"Royal Chocolate Flush" is the eighteenth single by Japanese recording artist Misia. It was released on December 5, 2007 as the second single from Misia's eighth studio album Eighth World . [1]
The single was released simultaneously with the Hoshizora no Live IV Classics tour DVD. [2] It is Misia's first EP-length single, which consists of three other tracks. [3] The A-side, "Royal Chocolate Flush," was written by Misia, composed by Sakoshin and Shusui, and produced by Sakoshin. In an interview with OCN's Talking Japan, Misia explained the theme of the lyrics, "The song is for all the girls who have ever had to choose between either love or work. It's about tossing away the negativity and putting in double the effort in order to have both." [4]
The main B-side of the single, "Taiyō no Chizu," was also written by Misia, composed by Gomi and Shusui, and produced by Gomi. It served as theme song for the Fuji TV morning show Mezamashi TV, from October 2007 to March 2008. [5] [6] The single also includes "Chandelier," which was first performed during the Hoshizora no Live IV Classics tour, and "Kiss and Hug," the theme song for the J-Wave radio show of the same name. "Royal Chocolate Flush" debuted on the Oricon Daily Singles chart at number 4 and peaked at number 10 on the Oricon Weekly Singles chart, with 11,670 copies sold in its first week. [8] [9] The single charted for seven weeks and sold a total of 19,576 copies. [10] [11]

Misia, commonly stylized as MISIA, is a Japanese singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born in Nagasaki, Misia moved to Fukuoka at the age of 14 to pursue a recording career. There, she continued her secondary education and briefly attended Seinan Gakuin University before withdrawing to focus on her musical career. She was signed to BMG Japan in 1997, after auditioning for record producer Haruo Yoda.

The Tour of Misia 2008 Eighth World was simultaneously announced with Misia's Hoshizora no Live IV Classics summer tour in April 2007. The tour commenced in late December 2006 and concluded in late February 2007. Initially scheduled to run for eleven shows, an additional date at the Yokohama Arena venue was added as the final show. Sponsored by OCN, the tour drew an estimated audience of 150,000.

On the album's eponymous title track, Misia quotes former American president Barack Obama, who declared "love is love" in a speech given in the aftermath of the Supreme Court of the United States's landmark decision to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide. It compiles live material, spread out over two discs, collected from the Hoshizora Live concert series, recorded from its first installment in 2001 to the most recent in 2015, in commemoration of the series' 15th anniversary. The double album was released on March 9, 2016, through Ariola Japan.
