Rubin Tyumen is an ice hockey team in Tyumen, Russia. They play in the VHL, the second level of Russian ice hockey.

History

The club's direct predecessor was a team called Vodnik Tyumen. It participated in lower levels of the Soviet hockey championship representing a Tyumen shipbuilding plant. In 1972, its place was taken by a team called Rubin ("Ruby") that began to represent a Tyumen automobile plant. It participated in the second group of the USSR championship "A". In 1995, it was reestablished as Gazovik Tyumen and changed its name back to Rubin Tyumen in 2010. In 2011, Rubin became the first VHL champions.

Lokomotiv was an ice hockey team in Yaroslavl, Russia. They played in the VHL, the second level of Russian ice hockey. It was a farm club of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the Kontinental Hockey League. It was founded for the 2011-12 season after the entire KHL team, along with its coaching staff, died in the 2011 Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plane crash and consisted of MHL players of Loko Yaroslavl. When the franchise rejoined the KHL in its 2012–13 season, it was decided to keep a minor team in the VHL structure.

2013-2014 VHL season — the 4th season of the Supreme Hockey League championship. Began on September 8, 2013, in Neftekamsk by opening match between Toros and Saryarka. The winner of the match and the holder of the Opening Cup was Toros. On April 28, 2014, Saryarka won in the sixth game of the final series of Rubin Tyumen and became the winner of the Cup Bratina. In accordance with the regulations, "Rubin" became the winner of all-Russian competitions on hockey (VHL).
