Ryo Owatari (大渡 亮, Ōwatari Ryō?) is a Japanese guitarist [1] [2] who was born April 4, 1971, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. He was formerly a member of the amateur band pee-ka-boo, but he is mainly known for his work in the band Do As Infinity alongside Tomiko Van and Dai Nagao. After the disbanding of Do As Infinity, he started working with his new band, Missile Innovation. Ryo has also collaborated with some Avex label artists like Ai Otsuka and Ayumi Hamasaki.
He is married to a Japanese Office Lady whose identity has been tightly concealed. He also has a son, but the family chooses not to disclose any information related him.
Do As Infinity is a Japanese pop and rock band that formed in 1999 with three members: vocalist Tomiko Van, guitarist Ryo Owatari, and guitarist and composer Dai Nagao. The band's name is sometimes abbreviated as DAI, alluding to the fact that Do As Infinity was named after Nagao. Signed to Avex Trax, the band released their debut single "Tangerine Dream" on September 29, 1999, followed by three more singles between 1999 and 2000, which appeared on their debut album Break of Dawn (2000). In December 2000, Nagao decided to devote all his time to composing the music and no longer appeared at live events. Five more studio albums were released between 2001 with New World and 2005 with Need Your Love.

Gates of Heaven is an album by Do As Infinity. It was released in 2003. "Azayaka na Hana" is one of the first songs Ryo Owatari wrote before auditioning for Do as Infinity, it was written for his former band, Peek-A-Boo! He also recorded a new version of the song with his new band Missile Innovation in their self-titled mini-album. The Asia version of the album included a Mandarin version of Shinjitsu no Uta as a bonus track.

Live in Japan is Do as Infinity's second live album, as well as a concert DVD. It was a recording of the first live concert that Do as Infinity held in Budokan which was part of the Gates of Heaven Tour. Guitarist Ryo Owatari considered Budokan as a place where only the best bands could play. The CD version was recorded on 31 January 2004 and the DVD version on 1 February 2004.
"Tao" is Do As Infinity's twentieth single, released on July 27, 2005. The lyrics describe the parting of two friends. "Tao" was used as the Japanese opening song of Tales of Legendia. This was the last single released before the band disbanded in September 2005, but Do As Infinity reformed three years later, and released their twenty-first single, "∞1", in June 2009.
"Honjitsu wa Seiten Nari" (本日ハ晴天ナリ) is the sixteenth single by Do As Infinity, released in 2003. The jacket shoot was done during a-nation 2003 before fans were allowed to enter the arena where the event was held. The jackets for both the CD and CD+DVD versions include Tomiko Van and Ryo Owatari holding bubble boards as if they were talking in comic-style. This song was considered the theme song to a-nation 2003.
"Week!" is the ninth single by Do As Infinity, released in 2001. The B-side, "Tsuredzure Naru Mama ni", is the only studio-recorded song by the guitarist Ryo Owatari, who also wrote the lyrics. The melody parallels that of song "Yesterday & Today". It was used as the theme song for the drama Yome wa Mitsuboshi.
"Tōku Made" (遠くまで) is the eighth single by Do As Infinity, released in 2001. "Tōku Made" was the theme song to the anime movie Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and was also used during the final episode of the first series of the Japanese TV drama "Waterboys". "Signal" was the theme song to a Lavenus hair care TV commercial which starred the lead vocalist, Tomiko Van.
Missile Innovation (ミサイルイノベーション) is a Japanese rock band formed from the former member of Do As Infinity, Ryo Owatari. The other two members are twins and were also members with Ryo from their previous band, Pee-Ka-Boo. While most of Do As Infinity and Tomiko Van 's music are both under the pop/pop-rock sound, Missile Innovation's music falls into the rock/punk-rock genre.

Infinity on High is the third studio album by American rock band Fall Out Boy, released on February 6, 2007, by Island Records.
