  1. In 2015, Lay established a personal agency, Zhang Yixing Studio, for his activities outside Exo. The studio is an exclusive management and record label for Lay.

  8. In 2003, SM Entertainment's five-year contract with Shinhwa ended, allowing the band to either sign another contract or switch labels. Lee Soo-man, the head of SM Entertainment, only wanted to re-sign five of the group’s six members. Eric Mun, as the group’s leader, made the decision that they wanted to stick together with all six members. Thus, the band rejected the offer and switched over to Good Entertainment, which had been founded that same year. The shift sparked controversy when Lee denied their request to continue using the name Shinhwa. The dispute was eventually taken to court, where Shinhwa won, allowing them to hold the rights to their name.
  9. M.I.L.K. were formed under SM Entertainment's sister label, BM Entertainment, in 2001. They disbanded when Bae Yu-mi left the group in 2003. Seo Hyun-jin remained at SM as an actress until 2007. Now each member has gone off to do their own individual projects such as acting, singing, MCing, VJing, and modeling.
  10. Sugar were formed under SM Entertainment's sister label, Star World, in 2001. They disbanded when Park So-jin left the group in 2006. Ayumi Lee moved to SM Entertainment in 2007. In 2008, Ayumi Lee later signed with Avex to pursue a music career in Japan. The group’s members have since gone on to pursure their own individual careers in acting, singing, MCing, VJing, and modeling.
  11. After Isak N Jiyeon disbanded in 2004, Jiyeon took the stage name of Lina and became a member of The Grace, formed in 2005. Isak became a VJ and radio DJ for Arirang.
  12. In 2009, Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu filed an injunction against SM Entertainment, subsequently leaving TVXQ. In 2010, the trio formed JYJ.

Shinhwa South Korean boy band

Shinhwa is a South Korean six-member boy band based in Seoul, composed of Eric Mun, Lee Min-woo, Kim Dong-wan, Shin Hye-sung, Jun Jin, and Andy Lee. Launched by SM Entertainment on March 24, 1998, the group signed with Good Entertainment in 2004 before creating their Shinhwa Company to manage their career as a band. The band struggled initially with their first album before finding commercial success with their sophomore album T.O.P.. When their contract with SM Entertainment expired in July 2003, all six members signed with Good Entertainment and assumed creative control with the release of Brand New. That same year, members began to pursue individual careers.

He has also been referred to as the "president of culture", as he pioneered the Korean Wave. Lee debuted as a singer in 1971, while he was a student at Seoul National University. He founded SM Entertainment in 1989, which has since then become one of the largest entertainment companies in South Korea.

Jun Jin South Korean singer and television personality

Park Choong-jae, known professionally as Jun Jin, is a South Korean singer, actor and entertainer, known as a member and rapper of six-member boy band Shinhwa. He debuted as a dancer and rapper in Shinhwa in 1998 but started singing small parts in 2002; the release of Shinhwa's fifth album. He debuted as a solo artist in November 2006 with the single Love Doesn't Come.

Kim Hee-chul South Korean entertainer

Kim Hee-chul, better known mononymously as Heechul, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, presenter and actor. He is a member of the South Korean boy band Super Junior and has further participated in its subgroup Super Junior-T as well as project group Universe Cowards with Min Kyung-hoon and Woojoo jjokkomi with Lee Soo-geun. He was also a member of the disbanded pop rock duo Kim Heechul & Kim Jungmo.

Eric Mun is a South Korean rapper, songwriter and actor. He is a member and leader of the South Korean boy band Shinhwa. He is also well known for several dramas such as Phoenix (2004), Super Rookie (2005) and Another Oh Hae-young (2016). He was with Top Class Entertainment from 2007 to December 2013. In 2014, Mun and his manager of 10 years, Lee Jong-hyun, set up a new management agency, E&J Entertainment, for his individual activities. Mun is also the CEO of Shinhwa Company, the home agency of his group, with Lee Min-woo as co-CEO since 2011, and with the remaining members—Kim Dong-wan, Shin Hye-sung, Jun Jin and Andy Lee—as shareholders.

Leeteuk South Korean singer, radio DJ, television presenter

Park Jeong-su, known professionally as Leeteuk, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, presenter, radio personality and actor. He debuted as the leader of the boy band Super Junior in November 2005 and since then has participated in its subgroups Super Junior-T and Super Junior-H. He began his career as a television presenter on the music show M! Countdown. He is best known for his role in presenting Strong Heart, Star King, The Best Cooking Secrets, I Can See Your Voice, and Idol Star Athletics Championships.

T.O.P. is the second Korean studio album by South Korean boy band Shinhwa. It was released on April 15, 1999, by SM Entertainment. The album title T.O.P. stands for Twinkling Of Paradise.

Lee Yeon-hee South Korean actress

Lee Yeon-hee is a South Korean actress. She is most known for her work in the television series East of Eden (2008), Phantom (2012), Miss Korea (2013), The Package (2017); and in the films A Millionaire's First Love (2006), M (2007) and Detective K: Secret of the Lost Island (2015).

SBS Gayo Daejeon is an annual televised music festival that is broadcast by the Seoul Broadcasting System at the end of each year. The program first aired in 1997, and awards were given to musical artists from 1997 to 2006. The awards ceremony portion of the festival was revived in 2014 and discontinued the following year.

FNC Entertainment South Korean entertainment company

FNC Entertainment is a South Korean entertainment company established in 2006 by South Korean singer and record producer Han Seong-ho. The label operates as a record label, talent agency, music production company, event management and concert production company, and music publishing house. The label previously known as FNC Music, only managed musicians but later changed its name to FNC Entertainment in 2012 and began to broaden their business field of entertainment. It has since January 2012, been based in its own company offices in Cheongdam-dong.

TOP Media (Korean: 티오피미디어),(also known as T.O.P Media) is a South Korean company, founded by Shinhwa, Andy, handling the management of several artists. TOP Media usually works with Kakao Entertainment for distribution of its musical releases.

Young-hu Kim is a South Korean music producer, songwriter and software engineer. He works mainly with SM Entertainment artists, and has written songs for Girls Generation, Exo, TVXQ, BoA, Shinee, f(x), Super Junior, Shinhwa, and Fly to the Sky.

Ida Dene Simmons better known as Kim Isak, is a German-American singer, actress and radio personality based in South Korea. She was a member of South Korean R&B duo Isak N Jiyeon from 2002 to 2004. She left SM Entertainment in 2012. She has been a VJ for Pops in Seoul on Arirang TV and is now a DJ for "Kpoppin" on Arirang Radio.

Ryan S. Jhun is a South Korean songwriter and producer. Jhun is known for his work with various K-pop soloists and idol groups, getting his start through acts from SM Entertainment such as Shinee, Super Junior, f(x), Taeyeon, Exo, NCT and TVXQ. He has since produced for several artists from other labels like IU, Loona, Lee Hyo-ri, U-Kiss, Girl's Day, Twice, and Oh My Girl, as well songs for audition programs Produce 101 and My Teenage Girl.
