SM Town Live 2022: SMCU Express at Kwangya (stylized as SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS @ KWANGYA) was an online live concert held on January 1, 2022, by SM Entertainment. Similar to the 2021-new-year online concert SMTOWN Live "Culture Humanity", the concert was broadcast free of charge online through various streaming platforms and selected broadcasting network in selected countries.
On December 10, 2021, SM Entertainment announced that it would be releasing an winter album titled 2021 Winter SM Town: SMCU Express . In the same announcement, it was also announced that a free-to-watch live online concert will also be held on January 1, 2022. [4] The lineup consisting of Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Taeyeon and Hyoyeon of Girls' Generation, Onew, Key, and Minho of Shinee, Kai of Exo, Red Velvet, NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, Aespa, Ginjo, Imlay, and Raiden was announced on December 23, 2021. [5] On December 27, 2021, it was announced newly formed supergroup Got the Beat will make their debut at the concert. [6] On December 30, 2021, J.E.B, Minimonster, Mar Vista, and Hitchhiker was added to the performers lineup. In addition, it was announced Changmin would be performing a preview of "Fever" from his upcoming album prior to the actual release. [7] On January 24, Beyond LIVE and U+ Idol Live announced the concert will be re-streamed on January 29, 2022.[ citation needed ]

SM Rookies is a pre-debut training team created by South Korean entertainment agency SM Entertainment in 2013, composed of trainees who have yet to join an idol group. From 2013 to 2023, the team officially introduced 35 members, of which 30 debuted under SM Entertainment as part of Red Velvet, NCT, Aespa, Riize, and Mytro, with rookie Lami debuting as an actress. NCT Dream is the third sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT, formed by SM Entertainment in 2016. They were initially intended to be the teenaged unit of NCT with an admission-and-graduation system, in which members would leave after reaching age of majority, prior to re-branding in 2020. 2021 Winter SM Town: SMCU Express is the ninth winter album by SM Town. The studio album was released by SM Entertainment on December 27, 2021, and is available in 13 different versions. It features 10 songs, including two singles off the album, "Dreams Come True" and "Hope from Kwangya". The album marks the first SM Town's special season album release in 10 years after the predecessor 2011 Winter SMTOWN: The Warmest Gift, which was released in December 2011. It is also the first album to feature Kai, Red Velvet, NCT, and Aespa.
Got the Beat is a South Korean supergroup and first sub-unit of project group Girls On Top. Kwangya Club was a Korean mobile application created by South Korean company SM Brand Marketing, a subsidiary of SM Entertainment. Ever SM Town is a theme park space and content production project by SM Entertainment and Everland. The project was formed through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between SM and Everland. It opened on October 1, 2022, with the concept integrated into the theme park's major areas that incorporated SM Culture Universe (SMCU). Various SM artists' intellectual property (IP) was utilized for the artist-experience space throughout the amusement park.

It was released digitally on May 12, 2020, by SM Entertainment and its EDM label, ScreaM Records, and distributed by Genie Music. The lyrics of the song was written by Lee Jae-kwang (JQ), Lee Ji-won, and Changmo. The song was composed by Raiden, Rob Adans, and Benjamin Samama, and arranged solely by Raiden.
