Sabon Gari Local Government is a local government area in Kaduna State, Nigeria. [1] It is one of the local government areas in the Zaria metropolis as well as being one of the districts of the Zazzau Emirate Council. [2] The towns and villages are Dogarawa, [3] Bomo, Basawa, Zabi, Samaru, Kwari, Barashi, Muchiya and Palladan. [2] The Local Government council is chaired by Alhaji Mohammed Usman. [4]

Population

Sabon Gari local Government area is densely populated with estimation of 204,562 population. The towns hosted different members of diverse ethnic affiliations. The major language in the area is Hausa language while Islam and Christianity are the religions practiced among people in the area. [5]

Geography

The average temperature is 32 °C, with two major seasons which are dry and rainy season. [5]

Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic is a tertiary education institution in Zaria Kaduna State, Nigeria. The polytechnic was established on 2 February 1989 by the Kaduna state government to provide training and development techniques in the Field of engineering, applied science, commerce and other spheres of learning. The polytechnic is one of the tertiary teaching institutions owned and managed by the Kaduna State government. The polytechnic was named after the then Nigeria's foreign minister Nuhu Bamalli. In August 2022, Barrister Abdullahi Zubair Abdullahi was appointed the new Registrar of the polytechnic.

Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli CFR is a Nigerian lawyer, banker and diplomat. He is the former Nigerian ambassador to Thailand with concurrent accreditation to Myanmar, and the current 19th Fulani Emir of Zazzau, a Nigerian traditional state with headquarters in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. He is the first Emir from the Mallawa ruling house to be enthroned in a century after the dethronement of his grandfather, Emir Alu Dan Sidi in 1920.

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) is a public research university located in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. It was opened in 1962 as the University of Northern Nigeria. The university has four colleges, three schools, 18 faculties, 110 academic departments, 17 centres, and seven institutes with over 600 professors, about 3000 academic staff and over 7000 non-teaching staff. The university has over 400 postgraduate programmes reflecting its strife to become a postgraduate studies-centred university. The university operates from two campuses in the ancient cosmopolitan city of Zaria, the Samaru Campus where the Senate Building and most of the faculties are located and the Kongo Campus, hosting the faculties of Law and Administration. Samaru is a town and ward in Sabon Gari Local Government of Kaduna state, Nigeria. The town is a semi-urban area in which the Ahmadu Bello University main campus is located. Samaru is one of the most popular towns in Zaria with different ethnic groups living together in peace and harmony. Samaru is home for all tribe.

Fatima Ibrahim Shema in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. She was the First Lady and wife to the former Executive Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Shema. She is a humanitarian and has often been referred to as the Iron Lady due to her resolute character and intolerance, and she was awarded the Most Valuable Governor's Wife in the North-West award. Fatima has never worked with the government but rather ran personal businesses until becoming the First Lady in 2007.

His retirement opened up an opportunity for him to join politics where he contested for primary election for Kaduna State Governorship position under All Progressives Congress (APC), where he emerged as 1st runner-up.
