Sai University is a private university located on SH-49A near Paiyanur, Thirupporur block, Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu, India. Established in 2018, It is one of the first private universities to be legislated in by the Tamil Nadu government for over 90 years, since the establishment of Annamalai University.

History

Sai University is the brainchild of the founder-chancellor K.V. Ramani, an Indian entrepreneur who donated more than 85% of his wealth to the Sri Sai Trust (by its full name, the Sai Education, Medical, Research and Charitable Trust), which promoted the university. [1] [2] The trust committed to investing 320 crore (US$40 million) in building the infrastructure for the university. [3]

Ramani approached the state government in January 2018 [4] which led to the introduction of the Sai University Act, 2018. [2] The Bill was passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in July 2018 together with the bill establishing Shiv Nadar University, the first private universities to be legislated in Tamil Nadu for over 90 years, since the establishment of Annamalai University. [5] [4] [6] Jamshed Bharucha was appointed the founding vice chancellor of the university in July 2020[ citation needed ] and the foundation stone was laid by chief minister (CM) Edappadi K. Palaniswami in August 2020. [7] The university opened admission for year 2021–22 in January 2021, in the schools of arts and sciences, computing and data science and the school of law. [8] It started operation in August 2021. [1] The academic buildings were inaugurated by CM M. K. Stalin in May 2022. [9] [10]

He served as the 45th Mayor of Chennai from 1996 to 2002 and 1st Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 2009 to 2011. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election, ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.

Shiv Nadar University, Chennai is a private university located on SH-49A in Kalavakkam village near Thiruporur, around 20 km south of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India. It was launched in October 2020, the second university to be set up by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, following Shiv Nadar University, Dadri in Uttar Pradesh. It is the first private university to be legislated in Tamil Nadu in nine decades. It shares the campus with Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering.

The city belongs to the Nilgiri mountains range. A professional Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree is awarded by the college.
