Rajiv Gandhi was an Indian politician who served as the 6th Prime Minister of India from 1984 to 1989. He took office after the assassination of his mother,then–prime minister Indira Gandhi,to become at the age of 40 the youngest Indian prime minister. He served until his defeat at the 1989 election,and then became Leader of the Opposition,Lok Sabha,resigning in December 1990,six months before his own assassination.

CBI is exempted from the provisions of the Right to Information Act. CBI is India's officially designated single point of contact for liaison with the Interpol.

At the time of his demise,he was serving as an MLA from Arki constituency.
Jagdish Tytler is an Indian politician and former Member of Parliament. He has held several government positions,the last being as Minister of State for Overseas Indian Affairs,a post from which he resigned after publication of a report by an official commission of inquiry,known as the Nanavati Commission. The commission had accused that he had a hand in organizing attacks on the Sikh community in Delhi after Sikh bodyguards assassinated the Prime Minister,Indira Gandhi,during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He has been charged with crimes related to those riots by CBI who filed a chargesheet against Jagdish Tytler on May 20,2023.

He served as the Deputy Mayor and Mayor of Delhi,the Chief Whip of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC),and as a six-time MP and Union minister for 22 years. Hailed as the “Uncrowned King Of Delhi ",Bhagat was commonly known for being a successful loyalist to Indira Gandhi and maintained unparalleled influence in Delhi and the Congress Party. His possible role in the 1984 anti-Sikh Riots is controversial,though he was cleared by the government in two trials in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Subramanian Swamy is an Indian politician,economist and conspiracy theorist. Before joining politics,he was a professor of Mathematical Economics at the Indian Institute of Technology,Delhi. He is known for his Hindu nationalist views. Swamy was a member of the Planning Commission of India and was a Cabinet Minister in the Chandra Shekhar government. Between 1994 and 1996,Swamy was Chairman of the Commission on Labour Standards and International Trade under former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao. Swamy was a long-time member of the Janata Party,serving as its president until 2013 when he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has written on foreign affairs of India dealing largely with China,Pakistan and Israel. He was nominated to Rajya Sabha on 26 April 2016 for a six-year term,ending on 24 April 2022.
The Justice G.T. Nanavati commission was a one-man commission headed by Justice G.T. Nanavati,a retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India,appointed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in May 2000,to investigate the "killing of innocent sikhs" during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The commission was mandated to submit its report within six months,but it took five years. The report in two volumes was completed in February 2005.

Sanjaya Sinh,also known as Sanjay Singh,is an Indian politician and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. He was twice elected to the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh during the 1980s and held state ministerial posts. In 1990,he became a member of the upper house of the Parliament of India,which is known as the Rajya Sabha,and in 1998 he was elected to the lower house,called the Lok Sabha. His term in the 12th Lok Sabha session lasted until the following year. Subsequently,in 2009,he was successful in obtaining a second term in that house as a member of the 15th Lok Sabha representing the Sultanpur constituency of Uttar Pradesh. He represented the state of Assam in the Rajya Sabha. He resigned from Rajya Sabha and Indian National Congress to join Bharatiya Janata Party on 30 July 2019.
The 2G spectrum case was a political controversy in which politicians and private officials of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition government India were allegedly involved in selling or allotting 122 2G spectrum licenses on conditions that provided an advantage to specific telecom operators. A. Raja,then Telecom Minister,was accused of selling 2G spectrum licenses at a very low cost which resulted in the loss of ₹1,760 billion in government revenue. Raja was also accused of not following rules and regulations as well as not recognizing any advice from the Ministries of Finance and Law and Justice of India while allotting 2G spectrum licenses to telecom operators. Series of allegations were made on allotting 2G spectrum licenses including allegations from Central Bureau of Investigation after investigating the case alleging Raja for intentionally advancing the cut-off date to favour some specific firms,which were allegedly ineligible for applying for telecom licenses,in return for bribes.

Balwant Singh Rajoana was convicted for the assassination of Beant Singh on 31 August 1995. Rajoana was sentenced to death on 1 August 2007 by a special CBI court in Chandigarh. Beant Singh was killed by Balwant Singh's associate Dilawar Singh Babbar and Balwant Singh was the backup human bomb to be used had Dilawar failed in his mission.

On September 5,1985,at 9:20 am member of the Delhi Metropolitan Council,close associate of Sanjay Gandhi,and Congress leader Arjun Dass was assassinated by 3 Sikhs in Delhi. The assassins were Harjinder Singh Jinda,Sukhdev Singh Sukha,and another member of Jinda's group. They killed Dass in revenge for his role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Along with Arjun Dass his bodyguard,a constable,was killed and 6 others were injured.
