Salamansa Futebol Clube, also as Futebol Clube Salamansa is a football club that plays in the Premier division of the São Vicente Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the village of Salamansa in the north of the island of São Vicente and plays at Estádio Adérito Sena with a capacity of 5,000, sometimes they play in a nearby field in Salamansa. Its nickname is pescadores (fisherman), as Salamansa has fishing is main industry and a lot of fishermen, even though that tourism could become the other industry of Salamansa with its recent developments on the east part.

Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It forms part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. In ancient times these islands were referred to as "the Islands of the Blessed" or the "Fortunate Isles". Located 570 kilometres (350 mi) west of the Cape Verde Peninsula off the coast of Northwest Africa, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi).

Salamansa is a village in the northeastern part of the island of Sao Vicente, Cape Verde. It is situated on the north coast, approximately 5 km northeast of the city centre of Mindelo. In 2010 its population was 1,179. Salamansa is a fishing village with a long sandy beach.

São Vicente is one of the Barlavento Islands, the northern group within the Cape Verde archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, off the west African coast. It is located between the islands of Santo Antão and Santa Luzia, with the Canal de São Vicente separating it from Santo Antão.

History

The club first played in the regional competitions in 2008 and played in its inaugural Second Division. In the 2009 season, the club was fifth place in the regional second division. The club was promoted to the Premier Division and finished fifth place in 2010, in the next season, the club finished last and played in the second division between 2012 and 2014, Salamansa finished second in 2014 and played two promotional matches against Ponta d'Pom, the first match was a goal draw, Salamansa defeated that club 1-3 and returned to the Premier Division. In the 2016 regional cup, Salamansa went to the finals to challenge CS Mindelense, Salamansa beat the club by three goals, all of them were scored by Djodjim, the first one was a penalty kick. [1] Salamansa competed for the first time in the regional super cup, Salamansa faced Mindelense again, this time, they would lose to Mindelense. Salamansa was moderate then in the lower position for the 2017 season, the club was thought to be sixth with Académica Mindelo's match fixing with the fake goalkeeper, their official positions was placed seventh and finished, two promotional matches were played in May 6 & 14, the first leg was a two goal draw and won 1-0 in the second leg and Salamansa was lucky and will continue to play in the Premier Division in the following season.

CS Mindelense

Clube Sportivo Mindelense (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: KS Mindelensi, São Vicente Crioulo: KS Mindelense is a football club that plays in the Premier division of the Interisland League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Mindelo in the island of São Vicente. Mindelense is the oldest club in Cape Verde. It is the team won the most cups before and after independence especially in the 1950s and the 1970s with nine titles before independence and eleven after independence. Their first participation in the national division before independence was unofficially in 1938 and officially in 1954, Mindelense first appeared after independence in 1980. Since 30 April 2017, they are one of three unrelegated clubs in the island along with Batuque and Derby. Its current chairman is Daniel de Jesus. The club's nickname is Leões Encarnados or the Incarnated Lions. A nickname that is used less often is the Red Devils or the Diablos Vermelhos.

As cup winner, the club competed in the 2016 Mindelo Cup, the next one in years, the last featured clubs from the city, this edition featured the regional champion Mindelense and two guest clubs from the neighboring island, Académica do Porto Novo and Paulense.

Académica do Porto Novo

Associação Académica do Porto Novo is a multi-sport club that plays in the Santo Antão Island League South Zone in Cape Verde. It is based in the town of Porto Novo in the southeastern part of the island of Santo Antão. Sporting activities includes football and volleyball. Its current head is Osvaldinho Silva Lopes and its coach is Gunga. The nickname of the club like many other Académicas is Mica.

Paulense Desportivo Clube

Paulense Desportivo Clube is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Santo Antão Island League North Zone in Cape Verde. It is based in the town of Pombas, the seat of Paúl in the northeastern part of the island of Santo Antão and is being the main club of Vale do Paul. Its current manager is Alberto Teixeira. Its nickname is Encarnados, the same nickname of Portugal's S.L. Benfica and many other clubs affiliated to Benfica. Since the introduction of the Second Division in the 2012-13 season, the club are one of two that have never been relegated, the other is Os Foguetões.

Salamansa started the 2017-18 Premier Division with a loss to Batuque, Two consecutive draws were next, without goals with Farense, then a goal apiece with the mighty Derby. Salamansa recently defeated one of the island's top three clubs Académica do Mindelo on January 13 with the score 3-1 and is currently fifth as the fourth round. Next round, a 4-2 win over Castilho was made, then a goal draw were made in two matches, then a 2-1 loss to SC Farense de Fonte Filipe and lost a position to sixth and had 10 points into the tenth round. Salamansa recently made a win over the historically mighty Académica do Mindelo (once not often to do) and climbed up to fourth place with 13 points, the points, wins and draws equald to Farense, Salamansa had 12 goals, fifth in the region. Salamansa lost their 12th round match to Mindelense and lost a position, their goals now sharing Farense Fonte Filipe's.

Its logo colors are blue, white and sky blue.

Uniform

Its uniform colors features a light blue shirt and the rest of the clothing dark blue during home games and an orange t-shirt with the remainder black for away games.
