Clube Desportivo Falcões do Norte, main name: Falcőes do Norte (Portuguese for Falcons of the North, Cape Verdean Creole (ALUPEK): Falkonis du Norti) is a football club that plays in the São Vicente Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in Chã de Alecrim in the northern part of the city of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente and also covers the northern areas of the city including Lajinha, Madeiralzinho and Ponta João Ribeiro which corresponds to the north of the city. As of the 2014–15 season, the team had won an opening cup title, two cup titles and a super cup title.

Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It forms part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. In ancient times these islands were referred to as "the Islands of the Blessed" or the "Fortunate Isles". Located 570 kilometres (350 mi) west of the Cape Verde Peninsula off the coast of Northwest Africa, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi).

Chã de Alecrim is a subdivision of the city of Mindelo in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. Its population was 5,126 at the 2010 census. It is situated 1.5 km north of the city centre. Bordering subdivisions include Matiota/Laginha to the southwest and Fonte Meio/Madeiralzinho to the southeast.

History

The club was founded on August 19, 1960 and its motto is "order and discipline" (ordem e disciplina). The club relies on young players from the city.

Falcões won two consecutive titles in 2011 and 2012. As the 2011 Cape Verdean Cup was cancelled, the club did not attend, the club attended the 2012 edition and did not advance into the semis. This was their only appearance in a national competition.

In the 2013 island super cup, the club (as 2nd place cup winner) defeated CS Mindelense, the champion to win their only super cup title. [1]

CS Mindelense

Clube Sportivo Mindelense (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: KS Mindelensi, São Vicente Crioulo: KS Mindelense is a football club that plays in the Premier division of the Interisland League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Mindelo in the island of São Vicente. Mindelense is the oldest club in Cape Verde. It is the team won the most cups before and after independence especially in the 1950s and the 1970s with nine titles before independence and eleven after independence. Their first participation in the national division before independence was unofficially in 1938 and officially in 1954, Mindelense first appeared after independence in 1980. Since 30 April 2017, they are one of three unrelegated clubs in the island along with Batuque and Derby. Its current chairman is Daniel de Jesus. The club's nickname is Leões Encarnados or the Incarnated Lions. A nickname that is used less often is the Red Devils or the Diablos Vermelhos.

In 2014, Edson Sousa became coach of the club. In 2016, its president is Aldino Cruz.

4th place the club finished in 2016. In 2017, they lost their further appearance for the following season in the Premier Division as the club finished last with 12 points, two less than Salamansa, in the following season, the club will play in the Second Division and will be Falcões' first. The fifth club after Amarante and well known to be relegated since the implementation of the two division system in 2008 and was one of four clubs that remained in the Premier Division.

Falcões do Norte recently won the Second Division Association Cup for the region in January 2018.

In the 2018 regional cup, they defeated one of the top five historically clubs of the island, Amarante São Vicente on January 21 with the score 2-1 and heads to the round of the quarterfinals later in February.

Falcões do Norte played their first ever Second Division match on January 28 and played their first with Corinthians and ended in a two goal draw. Then a scoreless draw with Amarante was made, their next meeting in two season, then they lost 4-2 in their first match with São Pedro. Falcões lost 2-1 to Ponta d'Pom in their next meeting in four seasons. In their first match with Calhau, they made a goal draw at the fifth round and Falcões is currently fourth but has a chance of returning to the Premier Division as they just had two points less than Corinthians and Amarante who are in their top two positions. Falcões defeated Corinthians at the sixth round and gained a chance of possibly returning to the Premier Division next season. Falcões made a two goal draw with Amarante followed by a win over São Pedro, two more rounds to go and are struggling for a chance to return to the Premier Division next season as well as Amarante, Corinthians and São Pedro. Falcões do Norte has equal results (3 wins, 4 draws, 14 goals and 13 points) with Amarante, they conceded a goal less than the club and is first place. They have only two points above fourth placed São Pedro.

Its logo has the globe with a brown falcon on top, it has three labels, the club name on top, the motto order and discipline (ordem e disciplina).
