Santo Antão is the westernmost island of Cape Verde. At 779 km2 (301 sq mi), it is the largest of the Barlavento Islands group, and the second largest island of Cape Verde. The nearest island is São Vicente to the southeast, separated by the sea channel Canal de São Vicente. Its population was 40,547 in 2015, making it the third most populous island of Cape Verde after Santiago and São Vicente. Its largest city is Porto Novo on the south coast.
São Nicolau is one of the Barlavento (Windward) islands of Cape Verde. It is located between the islands of Santa Luzia and Sal. Its population is 12,424 (2015), with an area of 343 km². The main towns are Ribeira Brava and Tarrafal de São Nicolau.
Tarrafal de São Nicolau is a city in the western part of the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde. With a population of 3,733, it is the most populous settlement of the island. It is the seat of the Tarrafal de São Nicolau Municipality, and the main port of the island. It is situated on the west coast, 9 km southwest of Ribeira Brava.
Associação Académica do Mindelo is a football club that had played in the Premier division and the São Vicente Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente and plays in a stadium with a capacity of 5,000. The club is an affiliate of the Portuguese club Académica de Coimbra. It is one of the first teams ever to win a provincial title before independence, in 1953, a year later. There was no further competition until 1956. Académica won their first title since independence in 1989. Other titles includes four for the island including their recent 2006/07 season win and two opening tournaments along with their recent win.
Estádio Municipal Adérito Sena is a multi-use stadium in Mindelo, Cape Verde. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of FC Derby as well as CS Mindelense, Académica, GD Amarantes and Batuque FC and the lesser club of Corinthians São Vicente. The stadium holds 5,000 people and area is 105x68 m and its ground is artificial grass. The stadium is owned by the municipality of São Vicente and is operated by the São Vicente Regional Football Association (ARFSV). It is a certified stadium by FIFA for international competition as well as friendly matches
The São Vicente Island or Regional Premier Division is a regional championship played in São Vicente Island, Cape Verde. The championship is organized by the São Vicente Regional Football Association. The winner of the championship plays in Cape Verdean football Championships of each season. In 1989, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017, a second place club participated in the national championships, Académica do Mindelo in 1989, Mindelense in 2014 and FC Derby in 2015 and in 2016 and will be for 2017. The 7th place club plays with a Second Division runner-up in a division decisional match to decide on promoting or remain in the Second Division. The last placed club relegated into the São Vicente Second Division. Up to around 2010, only a club was relegated into that division.
Ribeira da Vinha is a village in the central part of the island of Sao Vicente, Cape Verde. It is situated in the plain southwest of the island capital Mindelo, approximately 3 km from the city centre.

The 2014–15 São Vicente Island League season was the 77th of the competition of the second-tier football in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. Its started on 17 January and finished on 26 April 2015. The tournament was organized by the São Vicente Regional Football Association. CS Mindelense won the 47th title, as they were national champions in the previous season, Derby as second place qualified into the 2015 Cape Verdean Football Championships a few weeks later in May, later they qualified into the regional Super Cup as champion, as Mindelense won the cup title, they challenged Amarante, runner-up in the cup competition.
Ribeira Julião is a village in the central part of the island of Sao Vicente, Cape Verde. In 2010 its population was 611. It is situated in the valley of the stream Ribeira de Julião, south of the island capital Mindelo, 3.5 km from the city centre. An adjacent neighbourhood of Mindelo is named Ribeira de Julião.
The São Vicente Island Cup is cup competition played during the season in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde, it consists of all the clubs from all the two regional divisions and are divided into about five to six rounds. The cup tournament is organized by the São Vicente Regional Football Association .The cup winner competed in the regional super cup final in the following season. For several seasons, the winner qualified into Cape Verdean Cup which has been cancelled due to financial and scheduling reasons.

Mindelense also qualified into the regional Super Cup competition which was held on October 8.

Mindelense qualified into the regional Super Cup as champion later in the year and faced the cup winner Derby.
Fonte Cónego is a subdivision of the city of Mindelo in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. Its population was 236 at the 2010 census. It is situated directly east of the city centre. Adjacent neighborhoods include Alto Miramar to the northwest, Alto Santo António to the north, Alto Solarine/Forca to the northeast and Ribeira Bote to the south.
The 2017–18 São Vicente Island Championships season was the 89th of the competition of the second and third tiers of football in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. The Premier Division started on 9 December 2017 and finished on 25 March 2018. The championships were organized and governed by the São Vicente Regional Football Association. CS Mindelense won the 50th title and later qualified into the 2018 Cape Verdean Football Championships on April 7. Mindelense will qualify into the regional Super Cup as champion later in the year and will face the cup winner Batuque.
