Salem Cricket Foundation Stadium is a cricket stadium located in Salem district of Tamil Nadu, India. It was established in 2020 by Salem Cricket Foundation with assistance from Salem District Cricket Association and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. [3] [4] It is the biggest cricket ground in the state in respect to play area (90 metres (300 ft)). [5] Chennai Super Kings started its Super Kings Academy in this stadium. [6]

The stadium has five pitches, 12 practice-turf wickets, players pavilion and press box. [5] It is also built with a drainage system which refills ground water periodically. [7] The seating capacity is 5000 which can be increased to up to 25,000 during big events. [1]

As of February 2020, construction of stands for audience and parking facilities were planned by the Salem Cricket Foundation and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. [4] [7] The stadium is expected to host Ranji Trophy, Tamil Nadu Premier League and Indian Premier League matches as per the officials. [4] [8] [9]

Tournaments

Salem Cricket Foundation Stadium hosted Tamil Nadu Premier League 2022. 7 league matches and 2 playoffs (qualifier 1 and eliminator) are held in this Stadium.

Stadium is also to host Duleep Trophy 2022 along with Chennai and Coimbatore, this stadium to host Semi-finals and recently Salem Cricket Foundation Stadium is set to host Tamil Nadu Cricket Association's All India Buchi Babu Invitation Tournament for Group C teams which has Mumbai, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, also to host Semifinals. Location

The stadium is located in Kattuveppilaipatti village, near Vazhapadi with Shevaroy hills in the backdrop. It is off the Chennai-Salem highway and nearly 25 km from Salem city. [11] [5] It is spread across 16 acres (6.5 ha) with a play area of 90 metres (300 ft) which makes it the biggest in the state. [5] [3]

Inauguration

On 10 February 2020 after two years of construction, the stadium was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, former India captain Rahul Dravid, former Board of Control for Cricket in India Chairman N Srinivasan, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association President Rupa Gurunath and other officials. Indian Cement Company Ground, also known as ICL Sankar Nagar Cricket Ground is a cricket ground located in Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, India. The ground is in Bala Vidyalaya School run by India Cements. It is adjacent to the NH 44 in the village of Thaliyuthu.

The 2021 Tamil Nadu Premier League, also known as (TNPL-5) or, for sponsorship reasons, Shriram Capital TNPL, was the fifth season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) in 2016. It was scheduled from July 19 to August 15, 2021. The revised schedule was announced by TNCA on 7 July 2021 with all the matches played in Chennai.
