Sambikerep is located in western part of Surabaya.
Surabaya is the capital city of the Indonesian province of East Java and the second-largest city in Indonesia, after Jakarta. Located on the northeastern corner of Java island, on the Madura Strait, it is one of the earliest port cities in Southeast Asia. According to the National Development Planning Agency, Surabaya is one of the four main central cities of Indonesia, alongside Jakarta, Medan, and Makassar. The city had a population of 2,874,314 within its city limits at the 2020 census. With 3,009,286 people living in the city as of mid 2023 and over 10 million in the extended Surabaya metropolitan area, according to the latest official estimate, Surabaya was the second-largest metropolitan area in Indonesia. Surabaya metropolitan is also ASEAN's 7th largest economy ahead of Hanoi.
East Java is a province of Indonesia located in the easternmost third of Java island. It has a land border only with the province of Central Java to the west; the Java Sea and the Indian Ocean border its northern and southern coasts, respectively, while the narrow Bali Strait to the east separates Java from Bali by around 2.29 kilometres (1.42 mi). Located in eastern Java, the province also includes the island of Madura, as well as the Kangean islands and other smaller island groups located further east and Masalembu archipelagos in the north. Juanda International Airport, is an international airport located in Sedati, Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia. It is now the third busiest airport in Indonesia. This airport is located approximately 12 kilometers (7.5 mi) from Downtown Surabaya and serves the Surabaya metropolitan area, the metropolitan area of Surabaya plus extended urban area. Juanda International Airport is operated by PT Angkasa Pura I. The airport takes its name after Djuanda Kartawidjaja (1911–1963), the last Prime Minister of Indonesia who had suggested development of this airport. In 2019, the airport served about 500 aircraft per day.
Persatuan Sepakbola Surabaya, commonly known as Persebaya Surabaya or simply Persebaya, is an Indonesian professional football club based in Surabaya, East Java. The club currently plays in the Liga 1, the top flight of Indonesian football. Persebaya Surabaya is regarded as one of the most iconic and successful teams in the country, winning numerous Indonesian League titles and tournaments.
The Battle of Surabaya was fought between regular infantry and militia of the Indonesian nationalist movement and British and British Indian troops as a part of the Indonesian National Revolution against the re-imposition of Dutch colonial rule. The peak of the battle was in November 1945. The battle was the largest single battle of the revolution and became a national symbol of Indonesian resistance. Considered a heroic effort by Indonesians, the battle helped galvanise Indonesian and international support for Indonesian independence. 10 November is celebrated annually as Heroes' Day.
University of Surabaya (UBAYA) is a university in Rungkut, Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. UBAYA is the successor to Trisakti University of Surabaya which was founded in 1966. Its name was changed to the University of Surabaya in 1968. Construction on the campus began on 11 March 1968. The university has three campuses: Ngagel, Tenggilis, and Trawas, Mojokerto Regency. Ngagel campus is for diploma program and rectorate building, Rungkut campus is the main campus for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and Trawas campus is for outdoor learning activities. University of Surabaya was awarded Institutional 'A' Accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) in 2015 and also noted as one of 50 Promising Indonesian Universities.

Surabaya Gubeng Station, known as Spoorwegstation Goebeng Soerabaja during the Dutch East Indies era, is a railway station located at Gubeng Station Street, Pacarkeling, Tambaksari, Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. This station is the biggest railway station in Surabaya and East Java, and is a departure from the main railway in Surabaya, especially towards the south and east, while the train that passes through the northern route, such as majors train Jakarta via Semarang, departed from Surabaya Pasar Turi Station.
Surabaya Pasar Turi Station or Surabaya Pasarturi Station (SBI) is the second largest railway station in Surabaya, East Java. It is located near the Pasar Turi market in Bubutan, Surabaya. It is the main departure point of all train from Surabaya which passes through Pantura to the western cities of Java such as Jakarta and Semarang, but trains south and east line from Surabaya departed from Surabaya Gubeng. Since 2014, the station has upgraded railway signal and railroad switch devices from mechanical to electrical type produced by Len Industri.

Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia Football Club is an Indonesian professional football club based in Bekasi Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The club are linked to the Indonesian National Police, with many of their players serving as policemen. Even the name of the club is based on a police rank. They currently compete in the Liga 1, the highest level of football in Indonesia and won the title once in 2017. However, they will play in Liga 2 for the 2024–25 season following a relegation in the 2023–24 Liga 1.

The 2018 Surabaya bombings were a series of terrorist attacks that initially occurred on 13 May 2018 in three churches in Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia and the capital of East Java province. The explosions occurred at Immaculate Saint Mary Catholic Church on Ngagel Madya Street; Indonesia Christian Church on Diponegoro Street; and Surabaya Central Pentecost Church on Arjuno Street. The first explosion took place at the SMTB Church; the second and third explosions followed within an hour.
