Sarah Moraa (born 26 October 2005) is a Kenyan middle distance runner. She was a gold medalist at the 2024 African Championships over 800 metres. [1]

She attended Mogonga Pag Secondary School. [2]

Career

She finished third at the Kenyan Olympic trials over 800 metres in June 2024. [3] [4] She won gold over that distance at the African Championships in Doula, Cameroon in June 2024, running a time of 2:00.27. [5]

Personal life

She is the cousin of Kenyan runner Mary Moraa. [6] [7] Mary Moraa has described her as her "kid sister" on social media. [8]

After taking a silver in the 3,000 metres at the 2010 World Indoor Championships, Cheruiyot won a number of outdoor 5,000 m titles that year, becoming Commonwealth Games, African and Continental Cup champion, as well as winning the Diamond League title.

The 2024 Athletics Kenya Olympic Trials was an athletics meeting held by Athletics Kenya to select the Kenyan team in athletics at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. The meeting was held June 14–15, 2024 in Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya. Unlike other countries' trials, the 2024 Kenyan trials did not also serve as that year's national championships – a separate Kenyan Athletics Championships was held earlier in May 2024. The top two qualified athletes per event were to be guaranteed Olympic team spots, and if there were multiple options for a third qualified athlete in any event, they were chosen via committee.
