Sarita Tiwari (born 1980) is a Nepalese poet, writer and advocate. [1] She has written three books till date and regularly writes articles and columns for many national newspapers and online portals. Her poetry collection Prashnaharuko Karkhana was shortlisted for the Madan Puraskar for the year 2015 (2072 BS). [2]

Biography

She was born on 15 April 1979 in Pokhara, Nepal. Her mother was a ratyauli singer and used to sing in many wedding parties. Her mother's singing had an significant influence on her. Her family moved and settled in Nawalparasi where she grew up. She started writing poems since she was in 7th grade of her school. She used to participate and win in various poetry competition in school. She then joined Prithvi Narayan Campus in 1997 to study IA and received a bachelor's degree from same college. There she met many influential writers and poets. In college she was a part of a literary movement known as Samrakshan Kabita Andholan. Under the movement, the poets from Pokhara and Kathmandu went to village areas and wrote poems in nature. [3]

Her first poetry collection Buddha ra Lavaharu was published in 2001 (2057 BS). [4] Her second poetry collection was published in 2011 (2067 BS). [5]

Her third book Prashnaharuko Karkhana, a poetry collection was published in 2016 and was shortlisted for the Madan Puraskar for the same year. [6] The collection consists of 34 poems. [7] It was also translated into Hindi as Sawaalon ka Karkhana by Pramod Dhital in 2018. [8] She currently lives in Chitwan with her husband and children. [3]

Mohan Koirala was a poet from Nepal known for prose poems and poems against the Rana regime. Some of this poems has been translated in English. He won Madan Puraskar in 2038 BS.

Sagarmatha Ko Gahirai is a poetry collection by Nawaraj Parajuli. It was published in 2017 by FinePrint Publication. It was shortlisted for the prestigious Madan Puraskar. The book was launched in the premises of Nepal Academy by the poet and his mother, Laxmi Devi Parajuli.

Bhairav Bahadur Thapa is a Nepalese dance director, choreographer and a scholar. He is the first dance director of Nepal. Thapa passed the examination from the Public Service Commission in 2018 BS and started working as a dance director in the cultural institute. Bairagi Kailaka Kabitharu is a 1974 Nepali poetry collection by Bairagi Kainla. It was published in 1974 by Sajha Prakashan. It is the first book of the author. The poems in this collection were later reprinted in a book titled Bairagi Kainla ka Sankalit Kavita with his other poems by Phoenix Books. Kainla is known as progenitor of the Tesro Aayam movement in Nepali literature alongside Indra Bahadur Rai and Ishwor Ballav. He received the Sajha Puraskar for this book.

Usha Sherchan is a Nepali poet, lyricist and writer. She has published three collections of poetry, a collection of short stories and a novel. She has also written lyrics for five music albums. She writes about various social and feminism issues in her poems and stories. She is one of the few writers in Nepal who writes stories about queer people.
