Sarvodaya Karnataka Paksha, also called Sarvodaya Karnataka Party, is an Indian political party mainly based in Karnataka state of India. It was relaunched in 2016 by its lone Member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly K. S. Puttannaiah and Devanooru Mahadeva. [1] [2] It was formed in 2005 by Devanur Mahadeva and later merged in Swaraj India of Yogendra Yadav in 2017. [3] [4]
Sarvodaya Karnataka Paksha won one seat in 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election on which K. S. Puttanniah. [5]
In January 2023, with Swaraj India deciding not to contest the elections, SKP relaunched itself and announced five candidates. [6] SKP fought the 2023 Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections in five seats, namely Melukote, Belthangady, Virajpet, Bilgi and Mandya constituencies. [6] [7] SKP won the Melukote seat. Darshan Puttannaiah, son of late Puttannaiah, won the 2023 Assembly election from Melukote with support from Congress. [8] He defeated C. S. Puttaraju of JD(S) by a margin of 10,862. In 2018, Darshan, contesting on Swaraj India ticket, lost to the same candidate, despite the support of Congress. [9]
Congress took a strategic decision to support SKP as it enjoys the support of a huge section of the farmers and is backed by Karnataka Rajya Raithu Sangha and its youth wing, Hasiru Sena. [10]

The University of Mysore is a public state university in Mysore, Karnataka, India. The university was founded during the reign of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV and the premiership of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission for offering higher studies degree courses on-campus as well as online. It was inaugurated on 27 July 1916. Its first chancellor was the maharaja himself; the first Vice-Chancellor was H. V. Nanjundaiah. This was the first university outside of British administered Indian provinces, the sixth in the Indian subcontinent as a whole, and the first in Karnataka. It is a state university of the affiliating type, and was deemed autonomous within the Republic of India on 3 March 1956, when it gained recognition from the University Grants Commission.
Siddaramaiah, also referred to by his nickname Siddu, is an Indian politician who is serving as the 22nd Chief Minister of Karnataka from 20 May 2023. He also held that position previously from 2013 to 2018, being only the second person to hold that office for a full five-year term. He belongs to the Indian National Congress and is presently the leader of the Congress Legislative Party. He represented the Varuna Assembly constituency from 2023, previously from 2008 to 2018, Badami Assembly constituency from 2018 to 2023, and Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency from 2004 to 2007, 1994 to 1999, and from 1983 to 1989 in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. He served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1996 to 1999 and from 2004 to 2005 while he was a member of the Janata Dal and Janata Dal (Secular). He also served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on two occasions, from 2019 to 2023 and from 2009 to 2013. Siddaramaiah was a member of various Janata Parivar factions for several years.
