Sauce de Portezuelo is a resort (balneario) in the Maldonado Department of Uruguay.
The resort is located on the coast of Río de la Plata, about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) west of Punta Ballena and 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) (by road) east of the resort Punta Negra. To the east it borders the resort Ocean Park and to the north the resort La Capuera, which is on the coast of Laguna del Sauce. Ruta Interbalnearia, also marked as Route 93 for this area, separates it from the later.
Portezuelo was the location chosen by Spanish architect and designer Antoni Bonet i Castellana to build one of his most famous buildings, Solana del Mar. [1] He also planned the layout of the seaside resort. [2]
In 2011 Sauce de Portezuelo had a population of 128 permanent inhabitants and 173 dwellings. [3]

Punta del Este is a seaside city and peninsula on the Atlantic Coast in the Maldonado Department of southeastern Uruguay. Starting as a small town, Punta del Este later became internationally known as a resort for the Latin and North American jet set and tourists. The city has been referred to as "the Monaco of the South", "The Pearl of the Atlantic", "the Hamptons of South America","the Miami Beach of South America", or "the St. Tropez of South America".
Piriápolis is a city in the Maldonado Department of Uruguay. It is an important summer resort in the country, predating the larger and better known resort town of Punta del Este. Because it is mainly used as a resort, it has a relatively small permanent population for a city of its size.
