Scaphinotus andrewsii is one of 60 species of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. ^{[1] [2]} It is found in North America, living in moist areas and primarily predate on snails. ^{[2] [3] [4]}

They are known for their dark, black exoskeleton and somewhat elongated head and thorax.
