Lingcod Species of fishes

The lingcod or ling cod, also known as the buffalo cod or cultus cod, is a fish of the greenling family Hexagrammidae. It is the only extant member of the genus Ophiodon. A slightly larger, extinct species, Ophiodon ozymandias, is known from fossils from the Late Miocene of Southern California.

Blue sucker Species of fish

The blue sucker is a long-lived freshwater species of fish in the sucker family that is of conservation concern. The species has an average weight of 2-3 kilograms and an average length of 76 centimeters. The record length has been recorded at 102 centimeters, and individuals have been documented beyond 40 years of age.

Sorubim Genus of fishes

Sorubim is a small genus of long-whiskered catfish native to tropical South America. A number of characteristics allows the differentiation of each species in the genus. Sorubim species are important food fish in South America and are highly significant to fisheries of some areas; however, harvests of these fish are not identified as much as other, more popular food fishes such as Colossoma, Arapaima, and Brachyplatystoma. Some species of this family are popular aquarium fish.

Podocarpus elongatus Species of conifer in the family Podocarpaceae

Podocarpus elongatus, the Breede River yellowwood, is a species of conifer in the family Podocarpaceae. In contrast to other yellowwood species of southern Africa, Podocarpus elongatus often resembles an enormous, round, multi-stemmed bush in its habit. The Breede River yellowwood is a protected tree in South Africa.

Lepidiolamprologus elongatus Species of fish

Lepidiolamprologus elongatus is a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika where it prefers rocky areas. This species is a carnivorous predator on fish. This species can reach a length of 32.5 centimetres (12.8 in) TL. It can also be found in the aquarium trade.

Redside dace Species of fish

The redside dace is a species of ray-finned fish in the family Cyprinidae, found in the United States and Canada. It is unique among minnows, being the only species to routinely feed on flying insects by leaping from water. Thus, it acts as a conduit for nutrient transfers between terrestrial and aquatic environments. The species can be used as an ecosystem health indicator, as it is sensitive to environmental disturbances.

Omobranchus elongatus, the cloister blenny or chevroned blenny, is a species of combtooth blenny found in coral reefs in the western Pacific and Indian oceans. This species can reach a length of 5 centimetres (2.0 in) SL. This species can also be found in the aquarium trade.

Cancelloxus elongatus, the whiteblotched klipfish, is a species of clinid found in subtropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean along the South African coast. It prefers sandy habitats with nearby rocks at depths of from 10 to 25 metres. It can reach a maximum length of 5 centimetres (2.0 in) TL. This species preys primarily on zoobenthos.

Tenuidactylus elongatus, also known as the Yangihissar gecko or Kashghar thin-toed gecko, is a lizard species in the genus Tenuidactylus. Its type locality is Yangihissar. It is found in Turkestan, southern Mongolia, and China.

Avitomyrmex is an extinct genus of bulldog ants in the subfamily Myrmeciinae which contains three described species. The genus was described in 2006 from Ypresian stage deposits of British Columbia, Canada. Almost all the specimens collected are queens, with an exception of a single fossilised worker. These ants are large, and the eyes are also large and well developed; a sting is present in one species. The behaviour of these ants may have been similar to extant Myrmeciinae ants, such as foraging solitarily for arthropod prey and never leaving pheromone trails to food sources. Avitomyrmex has not been assigned to any tribe, instead generally being regarded as incertae sedis within Myrmeciinae. However, its identity as an ant has been challenged, although it is undoubtedly a hymenopteran insect.

Notoscopelus elongatus is a species of lanternfish in the family Myctophidae. It is endemic to the Mediterranean Sea where it is found in deep water habitats, rising to near the surface to feed at night and descending to great depths by day. It is a common species with no particular threats, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature has listed its conservation status as being of least concern.
