Scutiger adungensis is a species of frog in the family Megophryidae. It is only known with certainty from two specimens collected in 1931 from Adung Valley in northern Myanmar, near the border to Tibet; [1] [3] there are more recent unconfirmed sightings. [1] Common name Adung lazy toad has been coined for it. [3]

Description

The type series consists of two adult males measuring 71 and 73 mm (2.8 and 2.9 in) in snout–vent length. The head is as broad as it is wide and relatively flat. The snout is rounded. Tympanum is absent. Lateral parotoid glands are present. The limbs are relatively short; the fingers and toes have no webbing. Skin in the upper parts of the body bears pustules, while the limbs are granular. The upper parts are dark, with a darker triangular area between the eyes pointing backward. The lower parts are lighter and without pattern. [2]

Habitat and conservation

Scutiger adungensis occurs in mountain streams (presumably, its breeding habitat) in Adung Valley at elevations of 3,650 m (11,980 ft) above sea level. There are also more recent sightings from the Hkakabo Razi National Park, but no specimens have been collected. [1]

Fejervarya limnocharis Species of amphibian

Fejervarya limnocharis is a species of frog found in South East Asia and parts of Indochina. It is known under many common names, including Boie's wart frog, rice field frog, and Asian grass frog. Molecular studies of the species complex suggest that there may be multiple species involved.

Atelopus longirostris Species of amphibian

Atelopus longirostris is a species of harlequin frog, a member of the family of true toads (Bufonidae). It has been recorded only in northern Ecuador. Amolops chakrataensis, also known as the Dehradun stream frog or Chakrata torrent frog, is a species of frog endemic to India. It is only known from its type locality near Chakrata in Uttarakhand, near the Tiger Falls. It was described based on a single specimen collected in 1985. After being "lost" for 25 years, the species was rediscovered in 2011 at its type locality, reflecting the lack of field work in the area.

Telmatobius pefauri is a species of frog in the family Telmatobiidae. It is endemic to extreme northern Chile. It was already feared that this species is extinct, but recent research has suggested that the species is extant at several localities in the Arica y Parinacota Region, albeit at low numbers. Furthermore, morphological and genetic data suggest that Telmatobius zapahuirensis is a synonym of Telmatobius pefauri. Common name Arico water frog has been coined for this species.

Thoropa saxatilis is a species of frog in the family Cycloramphidae. It is endemic to southern Brazil and occurs in the Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul states, corresponding to the southernmost extent of the Atlantic Forest biome. Leptolalax pelodytoides is a frog species in the family Megophryidae. It is known with reasonable certainty only from near its type locality, the Karen Hills region in the Kayah State, eastern Myanmar. As Leptolalax pelodytoides was one of the first megophryid species to be described from the region, later research has shown that many specimens that have been reported as L. pelodytoides represent other species, including Leptolalax bourreti, Leptolalax oshanensis, Leptolalax eos, and Leptolalax minimus. A consequence is that the most recent IUCN assessment reports much broader distribution for this species than what can be ascertained.
