Seifu Tura Abdiwak [lower-alpha 1] (born 19 June 1997) [2] is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He won the 2021 Chicago Marathon and placed second at the 2022 Chicago Marathon.
Seifu Tura originally specialized in middle-distance running, having won the 3000 m event of the 2015 Janusz Kusociński Memorial in Szczecin, Poland, with a time of 7:56.22. [3] [4]
In 2017, he debuted over the marathon distance at the JoongAng Seoul Marathon, taking second place with a time of 2:09:26. [1] [5]
After achieving a time of 2:04:44 at the 2018 Dubai Marathon, Tura won the 2018 Milano Marathon with a time of 2:09:04, despite having an issue with cramps. [6] [1] It was the runner's third attempt at the distance, six months after the first. [1] Later that year, Tura also won the Shanghai Marathon, with a time of 2:09:18, a split second ahead of compatriot Tsegaye Mekonnen. [7] [8] [9] This also marked the first time both winners of the Shanghai Marathon were from Ethiopia, as Yebrgual Melese had also won the race, setting a course record in the process. [7]
In 2021, Tura set a marathon personal best of 2:04:29 with a fourth-place finish in Milano. [10] [2] Months later, he won the 2021 Chicago Marathon with a time of 2:06:12. [11] [10]
The following year in July, Tura placed sixth in the marathon at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon with a time of 2:07:17. [2] He finished second at the 2022 Chicago Marathon in October in 2:04:49. [12]

The 15K run is a long distance foot race. It is a rarely held race that is not recognized as an Olympic event. The overall world best time for men was set by Jacob Kiplimo en route the Lisbon Half Marathon. Excluding en route times both the world best for men and women were set at the Zevenheuvelenloop in Nijmegen, Netherlands. The world best for men is held by Joshua Cheptegei of Uganda who ran a time of 41:05. The women's world best is held by Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia who ran a time of 44:20.
The world record in the half marathon has been officially recognized since 1 January 2004 by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the international governing body for the sport of athletics. A total of five men's world records and six women's world records have been officially ratified since that date. The IAAF officially recognized the fastest times before that date as a "world best" from 1 January 2003 onwards. Before that date, the IAAF did not recognize any road running world records, though the concept of a world record was recognized by other organizations, such as the Association of Road Racing Statisticians (ARRS).
Ruth Chepng'etich, often spelt Ruth Chepngetich, is a Kenyan road racing athlete, who competes in the marathon and other long distance events. She was the 2019 Marathon World champion in hot and humid conditions. Chepng'etich twice won the Chicago Marathon, in 2021 and 2022. Her personal best in the marathon sits second on the world all-time list. She holds the third-fastest mark of all time for the half marathon.
Lawrence Cherono is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He is currently the 8th fastest marathon performer of all time with his 2:03:04 clocking at the 2020 Valencia Marathon. He clocked 2:04:06 to win the Amsterdam Marathon on October 21, 2018. He also won the Amsterdam Marathon in 2017, running a time of 2:05:09, setting the course record, which he broke in 2018.

The 2019 Chicago Marathon was the 42nd annual running of the Chicago Marathon held in Chicago, Illinois, United States on October 13, 2019. The men's race was won by Kenyan Lawrence Cherono in 2:05:45 while the women's was won by Kenyan Brigid Kosgei in 2:14:04, a world record by 81 seconds. The men's and women's wheelchair races were won by Daniel Romanchuk and Manuela Schär in 1:30:26 and 1:41:08, respectively. More than 45,000 runners completed the race.

The 25K run is a long distance running footrace that is between the distance of a half marathon and a marathon. It was formerly an official world record distance in road running by World Athletics, but has since been downgraded to world best status. Separately, the Association of Road Racing Statisticians retains world records in the 25K distance. The ARRS holds different standards for records than World Athletics, with exclusions for certain point-to-point races and mixed sex races. As a result its women's world record is 1:26:34 by Nancy Conz, set in 1982.
Benson Kipruto is a Kenyan long-distance runner. He won the 125th Boston Marathon in 2021 (2:09:51) and the 2022 Chicago Marathon in a personal best of 2:04:24. Kipruto finished third at both the 2022 and 2023 Boston Marathon with times of 2:07:27 and 2:06:06 respectively.
