Serbia competed at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification in the Europe group.

The 2022–23 Red Star Belgrade season was the club's 17th in the Serbian SuperLiga and 77th consecutive season in the top flight of Yugoslav and Serbian football. The club participated in the Serbian SuperLiga, Serbian Cup, UEFA Europa League and qualifications for UEFA Champions League.

The 2022–23 Serbian SuperLiga was the 17th season of the Serbian SuperLiga since its establishment in 2006. Red Star were the defending champions, having won their 8th SuperLiga and 33rd domestic title in the previous season.

Aleksa Novaković is a Serbian professional basketball player for BC Nizhny Novgorod of the VTB United Legaue. He played college basketball for the Eastern Illinois Panthers.

The 2022–23 season is Fudbalski Klub Partizan's 76th season in existence and the club's 17th competing in the Serbian SuperLiga.

The 2022 Serbia EuroBasket team represented Serbia at the EuroBasket 2022 in the Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy, and Germany. Serbia finished at the 9th place with a 5–1 record, following a lost to Italy in a Round of 16 game.
