Ahmad Shahir Zawawi (born 5 September 1988), better known by his stage name Shahir, is a Malaysian singer, who rose to fame after winning the eighth season of Akademi Fantasia .
Shahir's father, Zawawi Abdullah, is a teacher by profession, while his mother, Mahanum Othman, is a full-time housewife. He is the oldest out of five children.[ citation needed ]
Shahir studied at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampar, Kampar, Perak from Year 1 until Year 6 and then at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Slim River, Slim River, Perak from Form 1 until Form 5. Prior to his audition for Akademi Fantasia, he was an engineering student at Centre for Foundation Studies, International Islamic University Malaysia. He is also a former member of the nasyid group, Saujana.[ citation needed ]
He currently lives in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Shahir competed against twelve other contestants in the running to win the 8th season of Akademi Fantasia .
Shahir was eliminated after receiving the fewest votes in Week 7. In the Week 8 concert, AFMASUK was introduced and during the Debaran Concert, he was voted back in after receiving the highest number of votes. At the end of the final concert, he was crowned the winner of the Season 8, beating 4 other students. He was the first contestant to be crowned champion after being eliminated and then voted back in via AFMASUK.

Ipoh is the capital city of the Malaysian state of Perak. Located by the Kinta River, it is nearly 180 km (110 mi) north of Kuala Lumpur and 123 km (76 mi) southeast of George Town in neighbouring Penang. As of 2010, Ipoh had a population of 657,892, making it the fourth largest city in Malaysia by population.

Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman is a premier, all-boys fully residential school in Malaysia funded by the Government of Malaysia. Named after the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of the Federation of Malaya, Almarhum Seri Paduka Baginda Tuanku Abdul Rahman ibni Almarhum Tuanku Muhammad, it is located in Ipoh, Perak. Asmawi bin Ani, better known by his stage name Mawi, is a Malaysian singer and winner of the Third Season of Malaysia's popular reality show, Akademi Fantasia. His father is a blacksmith in his hometown of Kulai.
Akademi Fantasia is Malaysia's first reality television show in which a number of contestants called students compete for the winning title and a chance to start their career in the entertainment industry. The first season premiered on 3 June 2003 and was one of Astro Ria's highest rated shows. The theme song entitled "Menuju Puncak" was performed by Juwita Suwito, who is the sister of the composer, Aubrey Suwito.
Kampar is the largest town of the eponymous Kampar District, Perak, Malaysia. Founded in 1887, the town lies within the Kinta Valley, an area rich with tin reserves. It was a tin mining town which boomed during the height of the tin mining industry. The fifth season of Akademi Fantasia premiered on 17 March 2007 and ran until 19 May 2007. The season was joined by new judges, Fauziah Latiff, Hattan and Fauziah Ahmad Daud, who replaced Adlin Aman Ramlie, while Aznil Nawawi returned as host for his fifth season. On 19 May 2007, Norsyarmilla Jirin from Penang was crowned the winner of the fifth season of Akademi Fantasia, making her the first female winner, defeating runner-up Ebi Kornelis @ Firdaus Yaimal. This season also featured Aizat Amdan, who would subsequently become the overall winner of 2009 and 2012 Anugerah Juara Lagu.
The fourth season of Akademi Fantasia premiered on the Astro Ria television channel on 3 June 2006. The season introduced Adlin Aman Ramlie as a replacement for Kudsia Kahar, while Aznil Nawawi returned as host once again. On 5 August 2006, a native of Marang, Terengganu, Mohammad Faizal Ramly won the season, defeating runner-up Lotter P. Edwin Edin. Faizal remained the last male winner until the seventh season.
The second season of Akademi Fantasia premiered on 7 June 2004 and concluded on 14 August 2004 on the Astro Ria television channel. Aznil Nawawi continued as the show's host, while Kudsia Kahar returned as judges. The second season was won by Ahmad Zahid Baharuddin, who defeated Norlinda Nanuwil. This season also featured Kaer Azami, who would subsequently win the 2008 Malaysian Music Awards for Best Song.
The third season of Akademi Fantasia premiered on the Astro Ria television channel on 4 June 2005. Kudsia Kahar continued to judge the show's contestants, along with Aznil Nawawi as host. Asmawi Ani, a native of FELDA Taib Andak, Kulai, Johor, was announced the winner of the competition on 7 August 2005, defeating runner-up Felix Agus.
Ummu Syaikhah Stacy binti Anam, known professionally as Stacy, is a Malaysian singer, composer, songwriter who rose to fame after winning the sixth season of Akademi Fantasia, receiving 43% of over 3.8 million votes. Her debut album, Aku Stacy, was released on 9 March 2009. She's also known as Malaysia's Dancing Queen, and has been cited as "Ratu Pop".
Akademi Fantasi Indosiar was Indonesia's second reality television show after Popstars Indonesia in which a number of contestants called students competed for the winning title and a chance to start their career in the entertainment industry.
The seventh season of Akademi Fantasia premiered on 9 March 2009 and continued until 16 May 2009 on the Astro Ria television channel. AC Mizal continued to host the show, while Adlin Aman Ramlie, Edry Hashim and Khatijah Hashim joined the judging panel following the departures of Fauziah Ahmad Daud and Ning Baizura. The promotional catch phrase of this season is "Bring Out Your Self-Transformation".
Mohamad Hafiz bin Mohamad Suip is a Malaysian singer, who won the seventh season of Akademi Fantasia, receiving 46 percent of over 4.2 million votes. His debut album, Masih Jelas, was released on 14 July 2009.
The eighth season of Akademi Fantasia premiered on 13 March 2010 and continued until 22 May 2010 on the Astro Ria television channel. The show underwent a number of changes from the seventh season, including the return Adlin Aman Ramlie as judge while Aznil Nawawi joined the judging panel following the departures of Khatijah Ibrahim and Edry Hashim.
The ninth season of Akademi Fantasia premiered on 2 April 2011 and concluded on 12 June 2011 on the Astro Ria television channel. Aznil Nawawi made a comeback as host along with Fauziah Ahmad Daud and Hattan also made a comeback to judge.
The eleventh season of Akademi Fantasia, also branded as AF2014, premiered on 1 September 2014 and concluded on 9 November 2014 on the Astro Ria television channel. Ramli M.S. and Raja Azura joined the judging panel.
The tenth season of Akademi Fantasia, also branded as AF2013, premiered on 14 September 2013 and concluded on 17 November 2013 on the Astro Ria television channel. The season introduced Zizan Razak as host along with the new judging panel, Edry Abdul Halim, Sharifah Amani and Roslan Aziz.
The twelfth season of Akademi Fantasia, also branded as AF2015, premiered on 3 August 2015 and concluded on 11 October 2015 on the Astro Ria television channel. Zizan Razak and Faizal Ismail continued to host the show once again, while Ramli M.S. returned as a judge and Rozita Che Wan joined the judging panel.
