Shahul Hameed (1953-1998) was an Indian playback singer who sang predominantly in Tamil cinema under the music direction of the Academy winner A. R. Rahman. [1] His association with the composer dates back to the TV jingles in the 1980s. He is most known for songs, Rasaathi En Usuru from Thiruda Thiruda (1993), Senthamizh Naatu Thamizhachiye from Vandicholai Chinraasu (1994), Urvasi Urvasi from Kadhalan (1994), Vaarayo Thozhi from Jeans (1998). Early life and career

Shahul used to be a regular TV show singer in the 1980s. He has sung more than 30 songs in Isaithendral and other shows. He was highly noticed on the television in the year 1982. During this time, he met A. R. Rahman who was also popular in composing TV jingles. Their first association was for the album Deen Isai Maalai, [3] an Islamic Devotional album in 1989. There were some songs from this combination in the early 1990s and they became close friends. [1] Shahul Hameed's legacy in music continues to evolve as AR Rahman employs AI to recreate his distinctive voice in the latest track for Lal Salaam. This groundbreaking use of technology showcases Hameed's enduring influence in the industry, marking a unique fusion of traditional talent and cutting-edge innovation. Shahul died in a car crash in 1997, near Chennai. [1]

The album consists of seven tracks, which include a remix and a reprise. Recording of the songs began in 2012 and was completed by 2014. Songs in the film vary in genre like EDM, bhangra, opera, urban. The original version of the soundtrack has youth oriented voices. The original version of the album was released on 6 September 2014. "Urvasi Urvasi" is an Indian Tamil-language song composed by A. R. Rahman and written by Vairamuthu for the soundtrack of the 1994 film Kadhalan. The song features vocals by Suresh Peters, Shahul Hameed and A. R. Rahman himself. "Urvasi" was the first song composed for the film. The song was a chartbuster in contemporary Tamil music, and became one of the most popular songs of all time. The Hindi version of the song was similarly successful across India.

Bhakkiyaraj, popularly known by his stage name, Bamba Bakya, was an Indian Tamil playback singer and musician. He predominantly worked alongside music composer A. R. Rahman on numerous collaborations in films. He received the name Bamba Bakya after A. R. Rahman asked him to sing songs for him just like popular South African musician Bamba. It later went onto become a stage name as well as an identity of him. He was well known for his unique baritone.
