Shawn Ellen LaGrua (born 1962) is an associate justice of the Georgia Supreme Court.
LaGrua received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia in 1984,and received her Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law in 1987. [1]
After her graduation from law school,from 1987 to 1990 she served as an assistant district attorney for DeKalb County;from 1992 to 1999 she as the Senior Assistant District Attorney for Fulton County,from 1999 to 2001 she served as the Chief Assistant District Attorney for the Tallapoosa Circuit. From 2004 to 2007 she served as a Solicitor General for DeKalb County,Georgia. Prior to her elevation to the bench from 2007 to 2010 she was the Inspector General for the Georgia Secretary of State. [1] [2] She is also an adjunct professor at Georgia State University College of Law. [3]
She was appointed as a Judge of the Fulton County Superior Court in 2010. [2]
LaGrua was one of four finalists being considered for the vacancy. [4] On December 1,2020,Governor Brian Kemp announced his appointment of LaGrua to be an associate justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia to the seat vacated by Justice Keith R. Blackwell who resigned on November 18,2020. [1] She was sworn into office on January 7,2021. [5]

Noma D. Gurich is an American attorney and jurist who is serving as an associate justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. Gurich was appointed the State's highest court by Governor Brad Henry in 2010 and assumed office on February 15,2011. Gurich was appointed to the Court following the death of long-time Justice Marian P. Opala. Gurich is the third woman in state history after Alma Wilson and Yvonne Kauger to be appointed to the Supreme Court.

Several elections took place in the U.S. state of Georgia in 2022. The general election was held on November 8,2022. A runoff election for one of Georgia's seats in the United States Senate was held on December 6,2022. The runoff was scheduled because none of the candidates for Senate received 50% of the statewide vote in the general election. In addition to the Senate seat,all of Georgia's seats in the United States House of Representatives were up for election. Also up for election were all of Georgia's executive officers and legislative seats,as well as one seat on the Georgia Public Service Commission. The Republican Party decisively won every single statewide office in Georgia except for the Federal Senate race which narrowly went Democratic in 2022.

Of these four,only the seat held by Andrew Pinson was contested by former Democratic U.S. House member John Barrow.
