Shen Jie (simplified Chinese :申杰; traditional Chinese :申傑; pinyin :Shēn Jíe) is a minor character featured within the famed classic Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods .
Shen Jie is the owner of a certain inn that neighbors Phoenix City, the homeland of Ji Chang. For over five generations Shen Jie has supported this inn. Once Ji Chang had entered this small inn and asked for food, Shen Jie would realize his position and feed him to his heart's content. In an act of kindness, Shen Jie would escort Ji Chang back to his homeland on horse, while Ji Chang would use a donkey. Following Ji Chang's return, Shen Jie would continue to support him to his greatest extent, and would enjoy great feasting with Ji Chang's fellow people.
Following this point, Shen Jie would head back to his old inn with his son, Ho, and continue to enjoy the ways of simplicity.

Consisting of 100 chapters, it was first published in book form between 1567 and 1619. Another source claims it was published in 1605. The work combines elements of history, folklore, mythology, legends and fantasy.
Jiang Ziya, also known by several other names, was a Chinese noble who helped kings Wen and Wu of Zhou overthrow the Shang in ancient China. Following their victory at Muye, he continued to serve as a Zhou minister. He remained loyal to the regent Duke of Zhou during the Rebellion of the Three Guards; following the Duke's punitive raids against the restive Eastern Barbarians or Dongyi, Jiang was enfeoffed with their territory as the marchland of Qi. He established his seat at Yingqiu .

Shen (神) is the Chinese word for "god", "deity", "spirit", heart, inclusive and community mind, or future mind. Shin in Japanese.This single Chinese term expresses a range of similar, yet differing, meanings. The first meaning may refer to spirits or gods that are intimately involved in the affairs of the world. Spirits generate entities like rivers, mountains, thunder and stars. A second meaning of shen refers to the human spirit or psyche; it is the basic power or agency within humans that accounts for life, and in order to further life to its fullest potential the spirit is transformed to actualise potential. The Xincheng Rebellion was a revolt that took place in the state of Cao Wei between late 227 and early 228 CE during the Three Kingdoms period. The rebellion was initiated by Meng Da, a former Shu Han general who defected to Wei and was placed in charge of Xincheng Commandery in Jing Province. The revolt was swiftly suppressed within a month by the Wei general Sima Yi. Meng Da was captured and executed.
Herman Kwan Hoi-San was a Hong Kong actor. His English name was Herman Kwan. Kwan started off as a Cantonese opera actor in street theatre before joining New Voice Opera Troupe (新聲劇團). He also started singing for early Hong Kong film soundtracks and moved on to act in films, mostly adaption of opera in Cantonese. He became famous and acted in many lead roles. When Hong Kong films started to move towards Mandarin, Kwan's career faltered and joined TVB and acted in various roles. Directors and filmmakers rediscovered his talent and cast him in many supporting roles in films. In 2001, Kwan suffered a stroke and was left mute and paralysed. He died in 2006.

Produced by Mango Studio, Cathay Media Group, China Television Production Center and China Central Television (CCTV), Investiture of the Gods aired on Hunan Television in April 2019. The series followed the love story between Erlang Shen and Daji in the two rival countries Shang and Western Zhou.
