Siddharth Sinha (born 1978) is an Indian film maker, whose Bhojpuri short film, Udedh Bun (2008), won Silver Bear at 58th Berlin International Film Festival 2008, the first ever such award in the history of Bhojpuri cinema [1] and 2008 National Film Award for Best Short fiction Film. [2] [3] [4]

Early life and education

Siddharth Sinha was born in 1978 in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, and moved to Delhi at a young age. [1] He received his bachelor's degree in Psychology from Delhi University and graduated in 2007 in film direction from the Film and Television Institute of India at Pune.

Career

He made his debut with the 10-minute docu-fiction Rangbela (2005), screened at the 2006 International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam

In 2006, the 2006 Berlinale Talent Campus selected him in the director’s batch on the basis of his one-minute preview to a projected documentary, subsequently his graduation short film, Udedh Bun (Un-ravel), a coming of age story of a young boy in an Indian village while taking care of his bedridden mother, which he also wrote. This went on to win the Silver Bear at 58th Berlin International Film Festival 2008. Later the film traveled to all the major film festivals including Pusan and Edinburgh. The same film recently won the National Film Award for Best Short fiction Film this year in India. [5] [6]

He also had directed a music video for Kailash Kher for his first album ‘Kailasha’. He was invited as a jury member to 'Noor de lijk film festival' in Netherlands. Recently, he was invited as an honorary member in the selection committee at Mumbai film festival 2009.

Sinha directed a 15-minute short film starring Kalki Koechlin, The Job (2018 film), which was released on YouTube on 15 June 2018. [7]

In November, 2009, his first Indo-French co production feature film, Twosome (Hindi working title, Do Duni) won the 'Best Promising Film Project Award by Hubert Bals Fund, International Film Festival Rotterdam, and a cash prize of €5,000 at the film bazaar co-production market at the 2009 IFFI, also has been officially invited to Cinemart, Rotterdam International Film Festival in January 2010. Hava Aney Dey is a 2004 Indian Hindi-language drama film written and directed by Partho Sen-Gupta. It stars Aniket Vishwasrao, Nishikant Kamat, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Rajshree Thakur in the lead roles. The film was shot on location in the northern suburbs of Mumbai, India, in October–November 2003 with a mixed crew composed of French and Indian technicians. It is an Indo-French co-production between Santocha Productions, Paris and Mystique Media Ltd, Mumbai and Independent Movies LTD, Mumbai. It was also funded partly by the Fonds Sud, of the French Foreign Ministry and the French Cultural Ministry. It was post-produced partly in Mumbai and Paris.

Tapan Sinha Indian film director

Tapan Sinha was one of the most prominent Indian film directors of his time forming a legendary quartet with Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak and Mrinal Sen. Gurvinder Singh Indian film director

Gurvinder Singh is an Indian film director. He is best known for his Punjabi language films Anhe Ghore Da Daan, and Chauthi Koot which premiered at Venice and Cannes Film Festival respectively. His latest film is 'Infiltrator' starring Veer Rajwant Singh which is a 15-minute short story in an international omnibus called 'In the same garden'

Siddharth Chauhan Indian filmmaker (born 1990)

Siddharth Chauhan is an Indian screenwriter, director and producer from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. He was awarded the "Youth Achiever" award by Hindustan Times Group in August 2014. Chauhan has not received any professional training in this field. His films have been screened across places including Sarajevo, UK, US, Belarus, Indonesia, New Zealand, Italy, China, Canada and France. He is the first independent filmmaker from Himachal Pradesh to have continuously taken his locally produced films outside India.

The 66th National Film Awards ceremony was the award ceremony which took place in 2019 to honour the best films of 2018, in the Indian cinema. The declaration of awards was delayed due to 2019 Indian general election.

Dénes Nagy is a Hungarian film director, editor and screenwriter. His first feature film, Natural Light was awarded the Silver Bear for Best Director in 2021.
