The Singapore Amateur Cycling Association (SACA) is the national governing body of cycle racing in Singapore.

Singapore Republic in Southeast Asia

Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is a sovereign island city-state in Southeast Asia. The country is situated one degree north of the equator, at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, with Indonesia's Riau Islands to the south and Peninsular Malaysia to the north. It is a member of the UCI and the Asian Cycling Confederation.

The Union Cycliste Internationale is the world governing body for sports cycling and oversees international competitive cycling events. The UCI is based in Aigle, Switzerland.

Pasir Ris Park park in Singapore

Pasir Ris Park is a beach park located in the eastern part of Singapore. This coastal park opened in 1989 and is among the largest in Singapore. It occupies 70 hectares of land, including some reclaimed land. The full length of the park is around 6.6 kilometres.

Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources

The Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources formerly the Ministry of the Environment (ENV), is a ministry of the Government of Singapore responsible for providing a quality living environment and a high standard of public health, protected against the spread of communicable diseases. It was set up in 1972, and today, together with its two statutory boards – the National Environment Agency (NEA) and Public Utilities Board – the Ministry’s area of responsibility has widened to include ensuring a clean and hygienic living environment, as well as managing the complete water cycle – from sourcing, collection, purification and supply of drinking water; to the treatment of used water and recycling into NEWater; desalination; as well as storm water drainage. Since 1 April 2019, a new statutory board Singapore Food Agency (SFA) was formed to amalgamate the functions of three stat boards, Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), National Environment Agency (NEA) and Health Sciences Authority (HSA) to handle food issues from farm-to-fork. A National Centre for Food Science was established to consolidate the food laboratory capabilities of the three agencies.

Singapore Sports Hub

The Singapore Sports Hub is a fully integrated sports, entertainment and lifestyle hub in Kallang, Singapore. Built in 2014 to host sporting and entertainment events, it replaced the former National Stadium on the recommendation of then Community Development and Sports Minister Abdullah Tarmugi in Parliament in 2001. His proposal was based on a Committee on Sporting Singapore report to promote a culture of sports in the city-state.

Cycling at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 17 August to 22 August. The event took place at The Float at Marina Bay for the road cycling and at Tampines Bike Park for the BMX and mountain biking.

Solar eclipse of December 26, 2019 solar eclipse

An annular solar eclipse will occur on December 26, 2019. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the Sun for a viewer on Earth. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun's, blocking most of the Sun's light and causing the Sun to look like an annulus (ring). An annular eclipse appears as a partial eclipse over a region of the Earth thousands of kilometres wide. The annularity will be visible in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam. Population centers in the path of the annularity include Kozhikode, Coimbatore, Jaffna, Trincomalee, Sibolga, Batam, Singapore, Singkawang and Guam. Cities such as Doha, Madurai, Pekanbaru, Dumai and Kuching will narrowly miss the annular path.

Rickshaw Two or three-wheeled passenger cart, of Asian origin

A rickshaw originally denoted a two or three-wheeled passenger cart, now known as a pulled rickshaw, which is generally pulled by one man carrying one passenger. The first known use of the term was in 1879. Over time, cycle rickshaws, auto rickshaws, and electric rickshaws were invented, and have replaced the original pulled rickshaws, with a few exceptions for their use in tourism.
