Singapore competed at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia from 24 July to 9 August 2015. This was the first time Singapore won a medal at the World Aquatics Championship, with Joseph Schooling winning bronze in the Men's 100 m butterfly event. [1]

Singaporean swimmers have achieved qualifying standards in the following events (up to a maximum of 2 swimmers in each event at the A-standard entry time, and 1 at the B-standard): [3] Swimmers must qualify at the 2015 Singapore Championships and Southeast Asian Games (for pool events) to confirm their places for the Worlds.
The Singaporean team consists of 11 swimmers (five men and six women), all coached by former Spanish breaststroker and 1988 Olympic bronze medalist Sergio Lopez Miro. [4] Among the official roster featured U.S.-based swimmer and Asian Games champion Joseph Schooling and Olympic siblings Quah Zheng Wen and Quah Ting Wen. [5]

Joseph Isaac Schooling is a former Singaporean professional swimmer who specialises in butterfly, freestyle and medley events. He was the gold medalist in the 100m butterfly at the 2016 Olympics, achieving Singapore's first ever Olympic gold medal. His winning time of 50.39s broke multiple records at the National, Southeast Asian, Asian and Olympic levels.
Quah Zheng Wen is a Singaporean professional swimmer who specialises in individual medley, backstroke, butterfly and freestyle events.
Singapore competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the nation's sixteenth appearance at the Summer Olympics, except for two different editions. Singapore was part of the Malaysian team at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, but did not attend at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, because of its support for the United States boycott.

Swimming competitions at the 2015 SEA Games was held at the OCBC Aquatic Centre in the Singapore Sports Hub in Kallang, Singapore from 6 to 11 June 2015. Built only a year earlier, the venue is hosting the SEA Games for the first time. It was used to host the second Southeast Asian Swimming Championships in 2014 as a test bed for the organisers, with the 2015 Southeast Asian Games volunteers hired to also volunteer in the 2014 Swimming Championships to help in the familiarisation of the new venue.

Lionel Khoo is a Singaporean swimmer. In 2015, Khoo won silver in the men's 200m breaststroke and gold in the 4 × 100 m medley relay at the SEA Games. In October 2016, he set a new national 200m breaststroke record at the Fina/airweave Swimming World Cup held at the OCBC Aquatic Centre, Singapore. Finishing fifth with a record of 2:11.80, he rewrote the previous record of 2:16.19 set at the 2016 ASEAN University Games in July.
