U.S. swimmers earned qualifying standards in the following events (up to a maximum of 2 swimmers in each event at the A-standard entry time, and 1 at the B-standard): ^{[5] [6]}

The U.S. team consists of 47 swimmers (22 men and 25 women). Twenty-eight of these swimmers have competed at the previous World Championships in Barcelona including undisputed superstars Ryan Lochte, Missy Franklin, and Katie Ledecky, and notable Olympic champions Nathan Adrian, Tyler Clary, Anthony Ervin, and Matt Grevers. ^{[6] [7]}
