"Solsken" ("Sunshine") is a single by Swedish pop group Gyllene Tider. Written by the band's lead singer Per Gessle, it was released on 29 September 2004 as the second single from Finn 5 fel! , which was the best-selling album in Sweden during 2004. [1] The single peaked at number 20 on the Swedish singles chart, becoming the thirteenth single by the band to chart in their home country [2] and became a new entry at number five on the Svensktoppen (Sveriges Radio chart) [3] before peaking at number three a week later. [4]

Composition

The writer of the song Per Gessle said, "I found one of those voice recorders with a lot of old song ideas on it. I played the song to our producers, Clarence Öfwerman and Christoffer Lundquist, who liked it, so the day after I wrote the lyrics. [6] Micke Andersson, Gyllene Tider's drummer, said "It is what you play when you're along the coast road down in Halmstad with a cute girl next to you." [6]

Roxette was a Swedish pop rock duo, consisting of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. Formed in 1986, the duo became an international act in the late 1980s, when they released their breakthrough second album Look Sharp! Their third album Joyride, which was released in 1991, became just as successful as its predecessor. Roxette went on to achieve nineteen UK Top 40 hits and several US Hot 100 hits, including four US number-ones with "The Look", "Listen to Your Heart", "It Must Have Been Love", featured on the soundtrack of Pretty Woman, and "Joyride". Per Håkan Gessle is a Swedish singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known as the male half and primary songwriter of the Swedish pop rock duo Roxette, which he formed with Marie Fredriksson in 1986 and which was disbanded after her death in 2019. The duo achieved international success in the late-1980s and early-1990s with their albums Look Sharp! (1988) and Joyride (1991), and topped the charts in the US four times, most notably with "It Must Have Been Love" which was featured in the film Pretty Woman. Prior to the formation of Roxette, he had a successful career in native Sweden as the frontman for Gyllene Tider. The band released three number-one albums during the early 1980s but disbanded shortly after their fourth album, The Heartland Café (1984).

Gyllene Tider was a Swedish pop group fronted by Roxette singer, guitarist and songwriter Per Gessle. They were one of the best-selling Swedish bands ever and have had numerous hits in Scandinavia, starting with the break-through song "Flickorna på TV2" in 1980. Helena Marianne Josefsson is a Swedish singer and songwriter. She is the lead vocalist in the band Sandy Mouche and has collaborated with Per Gessle, Roxette, Arash Labaf, The Ark and various other Swedish musical projects as a backing vocalist. Josefsson toured with Roxette during 2011 on their Neverending World Tour and also toured with Gessle, most notably during his 2018 Per Gessle's Roxette tour around Europe, where she was lead singer in a number of songs. In 2015 she recorded a jazz-covers album Happiness with Swedish trio Kontur, as well as cooperating with Roxette's bass guitarist Magnus Börjesson in a "jazz electronique" project.
