The Siliguri Corridor,also known as the Chicken's Neck,is a stretch of land around the city of Siliguri in West Bengal,India. 20–22 kilometres (12–14 mi) at the narrowest section,this geo-political and geo-economical corridor connects the eight states of northeast India to the rest of the Indian Republic. The countries of Nepal and Bangladesh lie on each side of the corridor and the Kingdom of Bhutan lies at the northern end of the corridor. The Kingdom of Sikkim formerly lay on the northern side of the corridor,until its merging with India in 1975.
University of North Bengal is a public state collegiate major research university in North Bengal region of West Bengal,which is located in Raja Rammohanpur,Siliguri,Darjeeling district,in the Indian state of West Bengal. A second campus is in Danguajhar,Jalpaiguri in Jalpaiguri district and a third campus is in Salt Lake,Kolkata also in West Bengal. Sanjukta Morcha alternatively Sanyukta Morcha,is a political alliance formed ahead of the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election as an alternative to the Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Urja Ganga gas pipeline project was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his constituency Varanasi,Uttar Pradesh. Also referred to as the Jagdishpur-Haldia Bokaro-Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline (JHBDPL) project,the project is of an estimated length of 2540 km which is under construction from the states of Uttar Pradesh to Odisha. A paper titled Subsidies for Whom in The Economic and Political Weekly (EPW),published in 2012,shows that only 18 percent households consume LPG as cooking fuel and the rest use other ways of cooking like wood,kerosene,dung cakes etc which is harmful to their health.

The P.C. Mittal Memorial Bus Terminus is a bus terminal located on Sevoke Road,Siliguri,District Darjeeling. It is from 5.4 km (3.4 mi) from Siliguri Junction railway station and about 8.2 km (5.1 mi) from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station. Both State owned North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) buses and private buses ply from here. Some bus routes may be shifted to this terminal to reduce traffic congestion. The Terminus is named after P.C. Mittal,a social worker and a businessman,who was a resident of the Darjeeling District.
