Crime in Canada is generally considered low overall. Under the Canadian constitution, the power to establish criminal law & rules of investigation is vested in the federal Parliament. The provinces share responsibility for law enforcement, and while the power to prosecute criminal offences is assigned to the federal government, responsibility for prosecutions is delegated to the provinces for most types of criminal offences. Laws and sentencing guidelines are uniform throughout the country, but provinces vary in their level of enforcement.

Lower Town (also spelled "Lowertown" is a neighbourhood in Rideau-Vanier Ward in central Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, to the east of downtown. It is the oldest part of the city. It is bounded by Rideau Street to the south, the Ottawa River to the west and north and the Rideau River to the east. It includes the commercial Byward Market area in the south-western part, and is predominantly residential in the north and east.
Winnipeg's North End is a large urban area located to the north and northwest of Downtown Winnipeg. It is bordered by the Red River on the east, the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) mainline on the south, the City of Winnipeg boundary on the west and Jefferson Avenue, Keewatin Street, Carruthers Avenue, McGregor Street and the lane between McAdam and Smithfield Avenues on the north. It is the northern section of the City of Winnipeg as it existed prior to the 1972 municipal amalgamation. Winnipeg's northern suburbs such as West Kildonan and Old Kildonan are not considered part of the North End. The CPR mainline and its Winnipeg yards, which are one of the largest railway yards in the world, act as a physical barrier between the North End and the rest of Winnipeg to the south. This has resulted in the North End remaining a very distinct and unique part of Winnipeg.

Marlborough Mall is a shopping mall located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Opened in November 1971, the mall has expanded several times and today includes approximately 100 stores and services, and encompasses 570,837 square feet (53,032.5 m2) of retail floor space. The mall also featured a Safeway until the 1990s, when the store moved to its own location west of 36th Street.

The power centre is built on 56 acres of land with 486,127 square feet of store space. Walmart serves as the mall's anchor. Eight separate buildings house the centre's 20 stores and services which include supermarkets, restaurants, banks, and a movie theatre. South Keys Shopping Centre was first opened in 1996.

The Ottawa Neighbourhood Study defines the boundaries of the neighbourhood as being Johnston Road-Blohm Drive and Hunterswood Crescent on the north, Hunt Club Road on the south, Hawthorne Road on the east and Conroy Road on the west. The neighbourhood generally corresponds to Census Tracts 5050001.08 and 5050001.07 which had a combined population of 8,825 as of the Canada 2016 Census. The Census also showed 5 people living east of Hawthorne Road, an area generally not considered part of the neighbourhood, but part of the former census tract.
