State Basketball League Coach of the Year Award

The State Basketball League Coach of the Year is an annual State Basketball League (SBL) award given to the best head coach of the regular season in both the Men's SBL and Women's SBL. In September 2014, Basketball Western Australia announced the naming of the Men's SBL Coach of the Year award as the "John Gardiner Men's Coach of the Year", [1] following Gardiner's death in May 2014. [2] A former Olympian, Gardiner was involved with basketball for more than 50 years as a player, coach and administrator at all levels of the game. He coached more than 400 games and won five MSBL championships with the Perry Lakes Hawks, including four consecutive between 2001 and 2004. [2]

Alison Schwagmeyer American basketball player

Alison Schwagmeyer is an American professional basketball player for the Sydney Uni Flames of the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). Ryan Petrik is an Australian basketball coach who currently serves as head coach of the Perth Lynx of the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). He started his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Rockingham Flames Men's SBL team before being elevated to the head coaching role of the Flames Women's SBL team, where over 10 seasons he guided them to three grand finals and two championships while earning WSBL Coach of the Year honours. Between 2015 and 2020, he served as an assistant coach with the Lynx, and in 2019 and 2020, he served as head coach of the Flames men's team.
