The State Basketball League Most Valuable Player (MVP) is an annual State Basketball League (SBL) award given since the inaugural season in 1989 to the best performing player of the regular season in both the Men's SBL and Women's SBL. In the pre-SBL competition, there was a Fairest and Best award. [1] [2]

The Super Basketball League (超級籃球聯賽), often abbreviated as the SBL, is the first tier semi-professional men's basketball league in Taiwan. It was founded in 2003 and considered by many as the successor organization to the short-lived Chinese Basketball Alliance, a men's professional basketball league that existed from 1994 to 1999 in Taiwan.

The State Basketball League Coach of the Year is an annual State Basketball League (SBL) award given to the best head coach of the regular season in both the Men's SBL and Women's SBL. In September 2014, Basketball Western Australia announced the naming of the Men's SBL Coach of the Year award as the "John Gardiner Men's Coach of the Year", following Gardiner's death in May 2014. A former Olympian, Gardiner was involved with basketball for more than 50 years as a player, coach and administrator at all levels of the game. He coached more than 400 games and won five MSBL championships with the Perry Lakes Hawks, including four consecutive between 2001 and 2004.
The State Basketball League Rookie of the Year was an annual State Basketball League (SBL) award given between 1992 and 2003 to the top rookie of the regular season in both the Men's SBL and Women's SBL. The award was discontinued following the 2003 season, with the league introducing the Most Improved Player award in 2004.
The State Basketball League All-Star Five is an annual State Basketball League (SBL) honour bestowed on the best players in both the Men's SBL and Women's SBL following every season. A five-player All-Star Team has been named every year for both competitions since 2005.

He is a two-time NBL champion with the Perth Wildcats, having won in 2014 and 2019. Dech played NCAA Division II college basketball for the Metro State Roadrunners and Barry Buccaneers.
