Stephensoniella brevipedunculata is a species of liverwort in the family Exormothecaceae. It is the only species in the genus Stephensoniella. It is confined to the Western Himalaya in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal. It is threatened by habitat loss. [1]
The genus name of Stephensoniella is in honour of John Stephenson (1871–1933), who was a surgeon and zoologist. [2]

A. leucobryoides differs from the family Sphagnaceae in having elongate antheridia. Species most commonly found in association with A. leucobryoides include: Leptocarpus tenax, Chordifex hookeri, and Actinotus suffocatus. Currently, A. leucobryoides is listed as rare under the Tasmanian Threatened Species Protection Act 1995.
