Stephen Owens (born July 4, 1965) [ citation needed ] is an American college baseball coach, currently serving as head coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights baseball team. He has held that position since prior to the 2020 season. [1] [2] [3]

Owens played football and baseball at St. Lawrence and was drafted in the 25th round of the 1987 MLB Draft. He played two seasons in the Chicago Cubs organization, reaching Class A. He then turned to coaching, serving as an assistant baseball and football coach at Ithaca Bombers. The following season, he earned a head coaching position with the Cortland Red Dragons baseball team, where he remained for eight seasons. He then coached at Le Moyne before becoming head coach at Bryant. In 2013, he led the Bulldogs to the NCAA tournament and was recognized as the ABCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year. Owens has won nine conference Coach of the Year Awards. At Cortland, he was named SUNYAC Coach of the Year in 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1998; at Le Moyne, MAAC Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2006; and at Bryant, NEC Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2014. [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]

On June 26, 2019, Steve Owens was announced as the new head coach of the Rutgers baseball program, replacing Joe Litterio whose contract was not renewed. [12]

The Le Moyne Dolphins are the athletic teams that represent Le Moyne College, located in DeWitt, New York, in NCAA Division I intercollegiate sporting competitions. The Dolphins compete as members of Northeast Conference. Le Moyne had been a member of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 Conference since 1996. At the end of the 2022–23 academic year, Le Moyne began the transition to NCAA Division I as a new member of the NEC.

The Albany Great Danes baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of the University at Albany in Albany, New York, United States. It plays at Conaty Park on the northern edge of Bryant's campus. Ryan Klosterman has been the program's head coach since the 2020 season.

The Northeast Conference baseball tournament is the conference baseball championship of the NCAA Division I Northeast Conference (NEC). Matt Senk is an American college baseball coach who is currently the head coach of the Stony Brook Seawolves. Senk has held the head coaching position at Stony Brook since prior to the 1991 season. Under Senk, Stony Brook has won America East Conference baseball tournaments in 2004, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2019, appearing in the NCAA tournament each of those seasons. In 2012, Stony Brook won the Coral Gables Regional and advanced to the Baton Rouge Regional to face LSU. After defeating LSU in a three-game series, the team moved on to the College World Series for the first time in program history. It was the first time that a school from the Northeast had reached the College World Series since 1986.

John Szefc is an American college baseball coach, currently serving as the head coach of the Virginia Tech baseball team. He has held that position since leaving the University of Maryland in June, 2017, where he had coached since the 2013 season.

The Bryant Bulldogs men's lacrosse team represents Bryant University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I lacrosse. As of the upcoming 2023 season, the Bulldogs will compete in the America East Conference (AmEast), which Bryant will officially join on July 1, 2022. Bryant plays its home games at Beirne Stadium on its campus in Smithfield, Rhode Island.

The Northeast Conference men's basketball tournament is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Northeast Conference (NEC). It has been held every year since the NEC was established in the 1981–82 season. The tournament is an eight-team single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The bracket is reseeded after the quarterfinals, with the highest remaining seed playing the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals. The tournament winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA basketball tournament.

Jamie Pinzino is an American baseball coach and former third baseman, who is the current pitching coach of the East Tennessee State Buccaneer. He played college baseball at Tufts for coach John Casey from 1994 to 1997. Pinzino then served as the head baseball coach for the Assumption Greyhounds (2005), Bryant Bulldogs (2006–2010) and William & Mary (2013), in which the Tribe made the NCAA tournament.

Charlie Hickey is an American college baseball coach. He has been the head coach of Central Connecticut since the 2000 season, leading the Blue Devils to six NCAA tournaments. Previously, he was the head coach at Providence for three seasons (1997–1999). Providence announced it was cutting the program prior to the 1999 season, but the team won that year's Big East title and advanced to an NCAA Regional final.

The Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year is a basketball award given to head coaches in the Northeast Conference (NEC). The award is presented to the head coach voted to be the most successful that season by the league's coaches. The award was first given following the 1982–83 season, the second year of the conference's existence, to Matt Furjanic of Robert Morris.

The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 26, 2019. The Vanderbilt Commodores won the tournament, and were consequently named national champions.

The Cortland Red Dragons men's lacrosse team represents SUNY Cortland in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III men's lacrosse. The Red Dragons compete in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and play home games in the city of Cortland, NY. The team was recently coached by Steve Beville, who led the Red Dragons to a national title in 2009 and retired after the 2023 season. Coach Lelan Rogers, who guided the Red Dragons to a 76-17 record from 2001-2005, returned to Cortland as the head coach in the fall of 2023. In addition to winning four national championships, Cortland has won a record 28 conference championships until 2022.
