Ben Greenspan is an American college baseball coach and former player. Greenspan is the head coach for the Northwestern Wildcats baseball team, serving since 2023.

College career

Greenspan attended James I. O'Neill High School in West Point, New York where his father was Athletic Director for the United States Military Academy. [2] He later attended Salisbury School in Connecticut for prep school. [3]

Greenspan first attended the University of Connecticut, where he played catcher and first baseman for their baseball team for two years. [4] Before his junior year, Greenspan transferred to the University of Indiana, where he his father was the school's Athletic Director. [3] He would spend the remainder of his college career with the Indiana Hoosiers baseball team. Greenspan graduated in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in sport marketing and management and later received a master's degree from Indiana in sport administration. [5] [6]

Coaching career

Greenspan's first college coaching job was at Indiana, acting as an assistant coach in various roles from 2009 to 2014. Before the 2015 season, Greenspan joined the Arizona State Sun Devils baseball team as an assistant coach. In 2018, Greenspan was promoted to associate head coach until 2021. [7] Greenspan then joined the Cal Poly Mustangs baseball team as an assistant coach in 2022, spending one year there. [8] After his sole year at Cal Poly, Greenspan became an associate head coach again, now joining the Michigan Wolverines baseball team for the 2023 season. [9] [10] Following one year at Michigan, Greenspan was hired as the head coach on August 18, 2023, for the Northwestern Wildcats baseball team before the 2024 season. [11] [12] [13]

The Indiana Hoosiers football program represents Indiana University Bloomington in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football and in the Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers have played their home games at Memorial Stadium since 1960. The team has won the Big Ten Championship twice, once in 1945 and again in 1967. The Hoosiers have appeared in 12 bowl games, including the 1968 Rose Bowl. Six Indiana players have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, including Zora Clevinger, Bill Ingram, Pete Pihos, George Taliaferro, John Tavener, and Anthony Thompson, who was also National Player of the Year in 1989. The 2012 Northwestern Wildcats football team represented Northwestern University during the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Pat Fitzgerald, in his seventh season at Northwestern, was the team's head coach. The Wildcats home games were played at Ryan Field in Evanston, Illinois. They were members of the Legends Division of the Big Ten Conference. The Wildcats won their first bowl game since the 1949 Rose Bowl against California by defeating Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl 34–20. They finished the season 10–3.

He was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 1938 NFL draft. The team played its home games at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana, as a member of the Big Ten Conference. The season officially kicked off with the annual event, Hoosier Hysteria, on October 2, 2021.

Jason Kelly is a baseball coach and former player, who is the currently the pitching coach of the Texas A&M Aggies. He played college baseball for the Cal Poly Mustangs, the Cuesta Cougars and the Missouri Valley Vikings.
