Stock Car Brasil, officially known as Stock Car Pro Series, is a touring car auto racing series based in Brazil. It is considered the major Brazilian and South American motorsports series. Starting in 1979 with Chevrolet as the only constructor, the series has also seen other constructors joining in and leaving such as Mitsubishi, Peugeot and Volkswagen, currently the only other beside Chevrolet is Toyota. The series is composed by 12 rounds, with the most important race, the Corrida do Milhão is worth double the points and has a prize pool of R$1 million. The competition has seen many internationally famous pilots on its ranks, such as Rubens Barrichello, Felipe Massa, Jacques Villeneuve, Lucas di Grassi, Nelson Piquet Jr., Ricardo Zonta, Tony Kanaan and António Félix da Costa.

This category was founded in 2004 as a consequence of a division in the TC Pista, being baptized as TC Pista B and located as the opening category of the Top Race V6. After the initial championship, won by Luis Esteban Hernández, the ACTC recategorized the TC Pista B as a school category for those drivers who wish to compete at the national level in the TC Pista, their competitions being organized mainly at the Autódromo Roberto José Mouras in La Plata. For this reason, the category was renamed TC Mouras, the name being a combination of the acronym of the higher category and the surname of the driver Roberto Mouras who gave the name to the platense circuit.
Turismo Nacional popularly known by its acronym TN, is a touring car racing series based in Argentina that has been active since 1961. It is organized by the Asociación de Pilotos de Automóviles de Turismo and is governed by the Automobile Sports Commission of the Argentine Automobile Club. The cars involved are almost standard preparation cars, that is to say practically a road car prepared for competitions. Originally, only models made in Argentina were allowed, but after Argentina's entry into Mercosur, Brazilian models were allowed.
