Studio Killers is a British-Finnish-Danish electropop virtual band made up of four animated characters: vocalist and designer Cherry, keyboardist Goldie Foxx, DJ Dyna Mink, and manager Bipolar Bear.
The voices of Goldie Foxx and Dyna Mink stated that they had originally written a song for a British girl band that was dropped from their label and were put in contact with Cherry's vocalist, who wrote the lyrics and performed the song with them. [2] [3] The members claim that most of their correspondence is through email, although their song "Who Is in Your Heart Now?" was written when they first had a face to face meeting. [4] The identities of the band members are unknown, and all interaction with fans is conducted via their fictional counterparts; however, it has been speculated by fans that the Finnish musician Teemu Brunila provides the voice of Cherry. [5]
They premiered in 2011 with the single "Ode to the Bouncer", about the lead singer character Cherry's difficulties in getting into a club, [6] and gained popularity through their music video on YouTube. The single was successful in the Netherlands, Finland, and Denmark. After releasing other singles "Eros and Apollo", "All Men Are Pigs", and "Jenny" through 2012 and 2013, they released their self-titled debut album in 2013, and followed up in 2014 with the new single "Grande Finale". Studio Killers also announced that they were going to start having live shows, starting with the 2014 Ruisrock festival in Finland, [7] followed by Ilosaarirock. [8] [9] To prepare for this performance and a world tour, they began a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for £50,000 and successfully gathered £55,176. [10]
In 2014 the band performed live at Ruisrock and Ilosaarirock festivals. The real-life counterparts of the characters Goldie Foxx and Dyna Mink appeared on stage wearing masks, and the character Cherry was present in the form of screen projection. [11]
In 2015, after a year-long absence, Studio Killers made a brief comeback and released the music video for "Jenny" on 24 December, as a Christmas gift to their fans. [12] The band went on a two year long hiatus, up until 15 February 2018, a YouTube video titled "Fresh Start: Studio Killers Are Back!" was posted onto their official YouTube channel, in which an animated Cherry promises new music coming soon. [13]
Later on in 2018, they released two singles; "Party Like It's Your Birthday" on 8 June and "Dirty Car" on 30 November, with music videos accompanying each song respectively. [14] [15]
On 31 August 2019 the group announced their intent to create an animated series and plan to launch a kickstarter to create a pitch pilot called Studio Killers 404. [16] The kickstarter reached its $115,000 goal in three days. [17] [18]
During 2020, the 2013 single "Jenny" started gaining success over the platform TikTok and started a new trend on the video-sharing app. [19] The group decided to release a lyric video to the song on 13 January 2021. The track later received a remix by Danish DJ and producer Faustix, on 10 February 2021.
The group recorded a new version of the single "Jenny" with the help of German singer Kim Petras; this new version was released on 26 March 2021. [20]
In June 2021, the group collaborated with electronic music duo The Knocks and released the single "Bedroom Eyes". They later featured in a remix of the song by Nathan Barnatt under the persona of Dad Feels. [21]
In December 2021, an animated pilot Studio Killers 404 was released on YouTube. [22]
On March 24, 2023, they released a new single, "Underneath my Raincoat", [23] later re-titled simply "Raincoat".

John Foxx is an English singer, musician, artist, photographer, graphic designer, writer, teacher and lecturer. He was the original lead singer of the new wave band Ultravox, before leaving to embark on a solo career in 1980 with the album Metamatic.
"Extravaganza" is the first single by American R&B artist Jamie Foxx, taken from his second album Unpredictable (2005). It features Kanye West. The song peaked at number 52 on US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in October 2005. The song also peaked at number 43 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming his first charting single on the chart as lead artist.
"Cherry Pop" is a song recorded by Romanian singer Alexandra Stan for her second studio album Unlocked (2014). It was made available for digital download on 28 May 2014 through Roton as the record's second single. The track was written by the singer, Lukas Hällgren and Erik Lidbom, while production was handled by the latter two. "Cherry Pop" was recorded at the Fonogram Studios in Bucharest, Romania, with additional engineering being done at Lidbom's Hitfire Production.
"Spaceman" is a song by the Killers. The song was released as the second single from the band's third studio album Day & Age on November 4, 2008, as a digital download on iTunes, and as 7" and promo CD in the US, Canada and the UK. It has been released to radio in Australia and has gone into regular rotation on Triple J. This song was number 17 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2008. The song has been used regularly as the opening song during the band's tour.

"Lay It Down" is a song by American R&B recording artist Lloyd taken from his fourth studio album King of Hearts. The track, which serves as the album's lead single, was produced by Polow da Don and samples Patti LaBelle's "Love, Need and Want You", as well as "Corn" by Zhnark. The single was originally released via YoungGoldie.com on August 15, 2010, and was released via iTunes on August 31, 2010.
"Good for Nothing" is a single by English indie rock band Hard-Fi. It is the first single from their third studio album Killer Sounds. The single cover does not bear the "Parental Advisory" sticker, despite the profanity used during the chorus. It was released as a digital download on 17 June 2011, and soon after received a "Song of the Week" designation from The Tune.
"Ode to the Bouncer" is a song written, performed and produced by electropop group Studio Killers. The energetic three-minute and 26-second dance-pop song, which plays in the key of F-sharp major, tells the story of somebody trying to dance but being prevented by a bouncer from doing so. Break beats, synth loops and vocals are depicted in the song's arrangement. Dyna Mink and Goldie Foxx composed the tune, while the lyrics were made by vocalist Chubby Cherry.
"Mrs. Right" is a song by American boy band Mindless Behavior featuring guest vocals from American rapper Diggy Simmons. The song was written by Mindless Behavior, Dee1, Rickey Deleon, Diggy Simmons and was produced by Walter W. Millsap, Candice "Goldie" Nelson. It was released as the second single from Mindless Behavior's debut studio album #1 Girl (2011) on June 28, 2011, by Interscope and Streamline. They were all between 13 and 15 years old in the song.
John Foxx and the Maths is a musical project featuring electronic music pioneer John Foxx, Benge and more recently Hannah Peel. The group specialises in the use of analogue synthesizers and drum machines. It was initially a studio based project working from Benge's studio in Shoreditch, London but has also engaged in live work.
"Live My Life" is a song by American group Far East Movement from their fourth studio album Dirty Bass. The song was released on February 25, 2012, as the album's lead single. It features vocals from Canadian singer Justin Bieber. The song was produced by RedOne and De Paris.
Rebbeca Marie Gomez, known professionally as Becky G, is an American singer and actress. She first gained recognition in 2011 for her cover versions of popular songs, many of which she uploaded to YouTube. One of her videos caught the attention of record producer Dr. Luke, who signed her to a recording contract with his label Kemosabe Records, an imprint of RCA Records. Shortly afterward, Gomez began working with singers will.i.am, Cody Simpson and Cher Lloyd.
Studio Killers is the debut studio album of electropop virtual band Studio Killers, released digitally on 14 June 2013, and physically on 15 July. An instrumental version of the album was released on 16 December. The songs were written, produced and performed by the group, with Chubby Cherry as vocalist and lyricist and Dyna Mink and Goldie Foxx producing the instrumental beats. The album also features mixing and additional production from James F. Reynolds, additional songwriting from Rob Davis and Chris Smith, and mastering from Dick Beetham and Ted Jensen.

GoldieBlox is an American toy company that markets interactive toys designed for girls. GoldieBlox, which pairs a construction kit with a storybook, launched in 2012 as a prototype on Kickstarter. Its Kickstarter campaign led to more than $1 million in pre-orders placed in the first month. It went on to sell in retailers including Toys "R" Us and Amazon. None of the original construction kits or storybooks are still sold, with the company shifting its focus to crafting kits for girls.
"Jenny", also titled "Jenny (I Wanna Ruin Our Friendship)", is a song written, produced and performed by the virtual band Studio Killers, released 3 May 2013 as the fourth single from their self-titled debut studio album. Played in the key of B major, the song, inspired by singer Chubby Cherry's crush on a person named Jenny, discusses a girl falling in love with her best friend and doing things such as stealing her lipstick and using her shirt as a pillow case. The single was a number-two hit on the Finnish Singles Chart, and was received positively by critics. A remix featuring German singer Kim Petras was released on 26 March 2021.
