Sulu Sou Ka Hou is a Macau resident who served as a member of the Macau Legislative Assembly. In 2018 he was the youngest person in that position. [1]
He was elected in 2017,and at that time he became the youngest member of the assembly. [2] 9,212 people voted for him. He is a part of the New Macau Association. He stated that his goal was to have direct elections for all seats of the assembly. [3]
On May 15,2016 he held a protest near Macau Chief Executive Fernando Chui's house against the Macao Foundation's "black box" donation to Jinan University (Chief Executive Chui was also the chairman of the foundation's trust committee and the vice chairman of the university). This protest was later deemed illegal by the government. On 4 December,2017,his fellow legislators passed (28 vs 4 votes) a motion to suspend Sou from the assembly so he could be prosecuted under Macau law. In May 2018 he was declared guilty and ordered to pay a fine of 40,800 patacas (US$5,000). As the conviction did not involve any jail time,he was then reinstated as a member of the Legislative Assembly on July 3,2018. He expressed his intention to run for office again after the fine. [1]

The Macau Daily Times ranked Sou as "Person of the Year" in 2017. [5]
By September 2021 the courts ruled he was not sufficiently loyal to the government and so was unable to keep his seat in the assembly. [6]

The New Macau Association (AMN) is a major pro-democratic political party in the Chinese Special Administrative Region of Macau. The party was established in 1992 and the founding chairman was António Ng Kuok Cheong,who departed from the then-mainstream livelihood faction and called for political reform in the colony. The current chairman is Icy Kam Sut Leng. At the,20 September 2009 election,the association split into two electoral lists –the New Democratic Macau Association and the Prosperous Democratic Macau Association. The two lists combined won 19.35% of popular vote and 3 seats in the legislature. At the election in 2005,the group won a plurality of 18.8% of the popular vote and 2 out of 12 popular elected seats. In the 2013 election the association is split into three electoral lists with the addition of New Macau Liberals.
Kwok Ka-ki is a democratic Hong Kong former politician. He is a private urology doctor,having graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong. Kwok is a member of the Civic Party,having joined on 19 July 2010. On 11 November 2020,he was disqualified from the Legislative Council,along with three other lawmakers of the pan-democratic camp,by the central government in Beijing on request of the Hong Kong government. A mass resignation of pan-democrats the same day left the Legislative Council without a substantial opposition.
Fernando Chui Sai On is a Macau politician who served as the 2nd Chief Executive of Macau from 2009 to 2019. He served as Secretary for Social and Cultural Affairs from 1999 to 2009.
Legislative elections were held in Macau on 15 September 2013 according to the provisions of the Basic Law of Macau. This election was the first of its kind succeeding the reform of the Legislative Assembly that created four new seats;two new geographical constituency seats and two new functional constituency seats. The impeachment of Park Geun-hye,President of South Korea,was the culmination of a political scandal involving interventions to the presidency from her aide,Choi Soon-sil. The impeachment vote took place on 9 December 2016,with 234 members of the 300-member National Assembly voting in favour of the impeachment and temporary suspension of Park Geun-hye's presidential powers and duties. This exceeded the required two-thirds threshold in the National Assembly and,although the vote was by secret ballot,the results indicated that more than half of the 128 lawmakers in Park's party Saenuri had supported her impeachment. Thus,Hwang Kyo-ahn,then Prime Minister of South Korea,became Acting President while the Constitutional Court of Korea was due to determine whether to accept the impeachment. The court upheld the impeachment in a unanimous 8–0 decision on 10 March 2017,removing Park from office. The regularly scheduled presidential election was advanced to 9 May 2017,and Moon Jae-in,former leader of the Democratic Party,was elected as Park's permanent successor.

Kuldeep Singh Sengar is an Indian politician and former member of Legislative Assembly belonging to the Bhartiya Janta Party from Unnao district,Uttar Pradesh who has been convicted of rape,murder,attempt to murder,criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation. He is the main defendant in the Unnao rape case and was booked under the POCSO Act. He is also accused of killing three people,including the victim's father in police custody and later her aunts by a conspired truck accident. A Delhi District and Sessions Court upheld an investigation conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that had ruled out any foul play in the Unnao rape survivor's accident in 2019.
An unofficial two-part referendum on the Chief Executive of Macau was held in August 2014. Organised by Macau Conscience,Macao Youth Dynamics and Open Macau Society,it asked whether voters supported reforming how the Chief Executive was elected and whether they had confidence in Fernando_Chui,the sole candidate in the 2014 election. Following the organisers' announcement of the proposed referendum,the Macau Government and the Macau Liaison Office issued statements condemning the referendum as "illegal and unconstitutional". Members of the organising committee and volunteers of the referendum were arrested by the police. Despite the forced closure of physical polling stations,the referendum went ahead online between 24 August 2014 and 31 August 2014. The organisers announced that 8,688 (96%) voted in favour of universal suffrage for the 2019 election and 7,762 (89%) voted having no confidence in Fernando Chui.
