"Word Up!" is a funk and R&B song originally recorded by American funk band Cameo in 1986. It was released as the first single from their thirteenth album of the same name. The song was written by band members Larry Blackmon and Tomi Jenkins. Its frequent airing on American dance, R&B, and contemporary hit radio, as well as its MTV music video, helped the single become the band's best known hit.
Evolution Theory is the debut studio album by British dubstep and rock band Modestep. The album was released on 11 February 2013 through A&M Records. The album charted at number 23 on the UK Albums Chart and number one on the UK Dance Albums Chart. The group performed on a headline UK tour of the same name from 2–17 February 2013, supported by album collaborators Document One and Koven. The track "Freedom" was due to be titled "We Will Not Fall" and feature vocals from Foreign Beggars, but the group withdrew from the track and the dub was renamed.
"Kids" is a song by American rock band MGMT. It was released as the third and final single from their debut studio album Oracular Spectacular (2007) on October 13, 2008. The version of the song that appears on Oracular Spectacular is updated from earlier versions that appear on the band's EPs Time to Pretend (2005) and We (Don't) Care (2004). A track entitled "Kids " appears on the album Climbing to New Lows (2005). At the 52nd Grammy Awards, it was nominated for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The song was first played, by then students, Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, at an event at Wesleyan University in 2003.
"Famous" is the second single by the English indie pop band Scouting for Girls to be released from their second studio album, Everybody Wants to Be on TV. The single was released to radio airplay on 18 August 2010 after premiering on the Huw Stephens show on BBC Radio 1 at 9:30 pm; a remix was also released for free via digital download on 11 October 2010 on the band's Facebook page. The song was performed at the Wireless Festival, as part of the setlist; they were joined with dancers holding signs, saying work, which when flipped around, would say dance. The song debuted at number 29 on the UK Singles Chart. The line spoken by De Martino at the start of the song, "I don't want to go out. I want to stay in." is a reference to the first lines spoken in the David Bowie song "Modern Love", 'I know when to stay out, I know when to stay in and get things done.'
"Blind Faith" is a song by British drum and bass duo Chase & Status. It was released as the second official single, and the third overall, from their second studio album, No More Idols (2011). The single features vocals from Liam Bailey, and was released on 21 January 2011. The single peaked at number five on the UK Singles Chart, tying with "Count On Me" as their highest-charting single to date. The chorus of the song also features vocals performed by Yolanda Quartey. and samples from 'Let The Music Take Control ' by Joey Negro and the Sunburst Band. "Blind Faith" is featured on the soundtrack of the racing video games Dirt 3 and Forza Horizon. The song was used by BBC Sport during its coverage of the 2013 World Athletics Championships.
Josh Friend, known by his stage name Modestep, is a dubstep and electronic rock DJ and record producer from London. Modestep was originally a band, but with the band's most recent past member, Pat Lundy, leaving the band in 2022, Modestep became a solo act by Josh Friend. Their debut album Evolution Theory was released on 11 February 2013, including its five singles: "Feel Good", "Sunlight", "To The Stars", "Show Me a Sign" and "Another Day". Modestep's second album, London Road, was released on 25 May 2015, marking the band's first album featuring Lundy and Deek as members. Between 2017 and March 2019, the band released four singles on Canadian record label Monstercat and three EPs on Disciple Records.
"She Makes Me Wanna" is a single by British boyband JLS, from their third studio album Jukebox (2011). The song was released as the album's lead single on 22 July 2011 by Epic Records. It features vocals from American recording artist Dev. The song was written by JLS, BeatGeek, Jimmy Joker, and Teddy Sky, and produced by BeatGeek, Jimmy Joker, Teddy Sky.
