J-pop, natively also known simply as pops, is the name for a form of popular music that entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s. Modern J-pop has its roots in traditional music of Japan, and significantly in 1960s pop and rock music. J-pop replaced kayōkyoku in the Japanese music scene.

Yasutaka Nakata is a Japanese music producer and DJ. He formed the band Capsule in 1997 with vocalist Toshiko Koshijima and himself as composer and record producer when both were 17. The band debuted in 2001 with the song "Sakura".
Superfly is a Japanese rock act that debuted on April 4, 2007. Formerly a duo, the act now consists solely of lyricist and vocalist Shiho Ochi with former guitarist Kōichi Tabo still credited as the group's composer and part-time lyricist. Superfly's first two studio albums were certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan, and their first four consecutive albums all debuted at the top of the Oricon Weekly Album Charts, a first for a female recording artist in Japan in over seven years.
The Secret Code is the fourth Japanese studio album by South Korean pop group Tohoshinki, released on March 25, 2009 by Rhythm Zone. The album debuted at number two on the Oricon weekly chart. The Secret Code is Tohoshinki's last original studio album to feature members Jejung, Yuchun, and Junsu.
Box Emotions is the second studio album by Japanese pop-rock band Superfly, released on September 2, 2009. It debuted at the number-one spot on the Oricon weekly album charts, making Superfly the first female artist in six years, since Chitose Hajime, to have her first two albums debut at the top of the charts. For the Japanese iTunes Store Rewind of 2009, Box Emotions was the album of the year. "Hanky Panky" was sent to radio stations as a promo single, and "Haru no Maboroshi" was sold as an album preview and pre-order bonus on the iTunes Store; it is still available as a separate single through iTunes.
Mind Travel is the third studio album by Japanese pop-rock band Superfly, the first studio album from the group fronted by Shiho Ochi in nearly two years. The record features guest musicians from Beat Crusaders, Losalios, and Mo'Some Tonebender, and the limited edition version of the album includes a DVD with 10 music videos from songs on the album. The album will be supported by Superfly's "Mind Traveler" national tour.

Superfly began as a duo in 2003 by vocalist Shiho Ochi and guitarist Koichi Tabo; signing with Warner Music Japan in 2007. Tabo left the band in 2007 just before the release of their single "I Spy I Spy", finding it difficult to work as both the act's songwriter and guitarist. However, Tabo remained attached to Superfly, composing and producing songs for the unit until Superfly's single "Ai o Karada ni Fukikonde" (2014) and Superfly's fifth studio album White (2015), where Ochi collaborated with a range of songwriters instead.
"Hi-Five" is the fifth single by Japanese rock act Superfly, and was the last single released prior to the band's debut self-titled album. The main track was used in promotions for au's "LISMO" service in April 2008. The B-sides for the physical release of the album were three of the four tracks from their 2007 iTunes Store set released as Live from Tokyo. "Hi-Five" ultimately reached the number 30 spot on the Oricon charts, while it went to number 7 on the Japan Hot 100.

The performances come from the final Osaka-jō Hall concert part of Superfly's late 2011 arena tour of the same name. The limited editions will include a bonus CD with a previously unreleased track. It is scheduled for release on April 4, 2012.
Force is the fourth studio album by Japanese pop-rock unit Superfly. It was released on September 19, 2012. Force commemorates the group's fifth anniversary and was released in several formats, including a special fifth anniversary edition which includes a bonus CD, a vinyl version of the album, and a commemorative poster. Japanese convenience store Lawson will also exclusively sell a special edition of the album which includes a bonus DVD. On the iTunes Store, the album will be packaged with one bonus track, with a second reserved for those who pre-ordered the album.

Coupling Songs: 'Side B' is a compilation album by Japanese musical unit Superfly. Released on December 2, 2015, the album was packaged as a 2-CD set with Superfly's single "Kuroi Shizuku", and compiles Superfly's original B-sides released between 2007 and 2014.
Love Bebop is the twelfth studio album by Japanese singer Misia. It was released on January 6, 2016, through Ariola Japan. The title, which is synonymous with love freestyle, was inspired by the evolving LGBT movement in Japan, leading Misia to draw a parallel between the growing societal recognition for all forms of love and the various messages of love depicted on the album. On the album's eponymous title track, Misia quotes former American president Barack Obama, who declared "love is love" in a speech given in the aftermath of the Supreme Court of the United States's landmark decision to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide. The album yielded five singles, "Shiroi Kisetsu" / "Sakura Hitohira", "Orphans no Namida" and the digital exclusive double A-side single "Nagareboshi" / "Anata ni Smile :)".
