Superman is a 1980 Indian Telugu-language superhero film directed by V. Madhusudhana Rao. It stars N. T. Rama Rao and Jaya Prada, Rao playing the role of Superman, with music composed by Chakravarthy. The film is produced by R. Gopal under the Lakshmi Vishnu Productions banner. It is an unofficial Indian adaptation of 1978 American film of the same name. [1] The film was met with universally negative reviews.

Plot

Zamindar Raghunath Rao, an advent devotee of Hanuman. On Hanuman Jayanthi, he offers their heritage jewelry to the Lord. Parallelly, 3 blackguards Maharaj, Sardar, and Jaisingh loots it, slaughter him with his wife Annapurna & the temple priest. Thus, his son Raja makes a penance when Hanuman bestows him supernatural powers and he turns into Superman. Plus, he nears the priest's family when his foster Sarada oaths not to reveal his strength. Years roll by, and Raja utilizes his power to aid the public while hiding his identity. He undertakes the mining business with Bangariah and falls for his daughter Jaya. Today, the 3 traitors conduct anti-social activities. Initially, Raja butchers Jaisingh. Next, Maharaj identifies gold stones in the mine, of which they are unbeknownst. Hence, to squat it they create a threat of demons in that region. Anyhow, Raja counterstrikes it and wipes out Sardar. Meanwhile, Raja's foster sister Lakshmi loves Mohan stunningly, the son of Maharaj, and conceives when Raja moves with the proposal. Maharaj is acquainted with Raja in disguise snatches his share as dowry and absconds with Mohan. Now Lakshmi attempts suicide, Raja protects and ensures to straight line the plight. Being cognizant of their presence Raja proceeds to Hong Kong. Bangariah & Jaya also land there to sell the mine due to the luring of Maharaj who are seized and Raja safeguards them. Simultaneously, Maharaj seeks to kill Raja and entrusts the task to a sorcerer Lee who uses her black magic, but in vain. At last, Raja recognizes Maharaj as the 3rd, eliminates him, retrieves Mohan, and espouses with Lakshmi. Finally, the film ends on a happy note with the marriage of Raja & Jaya.
