In addition to writing the story, Rakesh Roshan also wrote the screenplay with Sachin Bhowmick, Honey Irani, and Robin Bhatt. Koi... Mil Gaya focuses on Rohit, a developmentally disabled man who contacts an extraterrestrial being with his late father Sanjay's computer. The film follows his relationship with Nisha (Zinta), Rohit's friend, who falls in love with him.

Krrish is a 2006 Indian Hindi-language superhero film directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan. The film stars Hrithik Roshan in a dual role as father and son, with Priyanka Chopra, Naseeruddin Shah, Rekha, Sharat Saxena and Manini Mishra feature in supporting roles. A sequel to Koi... Mil Gaya (2003), it is the second installment in the Krrish franchise, and relates the story of Krishna (Roshan), the son of the previous film's protagonist, who inherits his father's superhuman abilities. After falling in love with Priya (Chopra), he follows her to Singapore, where he takes on the persona of "Krrish" to keep his identity secret while saving children from a burning circus. From that moment on, he is regarded as a superhero, and must later thwart the plans of the evil Dr. Siddhant Arya (Shah), who has a connection to Krishna's father, Rohit.

The genre of science fiction has been prevalent in the Indian film industry since the second half of the 20th century. Beginning in 1952, the Tamil film Kaadu was made, which was an Indian-American co-production. The 1963 Tamil film Kalai Arasi, 1965 Telugu film Dorikithe Dongalu, and 1967 Hindi film Chand Par Chadayee also have science fiction in their storyline. The Alien was a science fiction film under production in the late 1960s which was eventually cancelled. The film was being directed by Bengali Indian director Satyajit Ray and produced by Hollywood studio Columbia Pictures. The script was written by Ray in 1967, based on "Bankubabur Bandhu", a Bengali story he had written in 1962 for Sandesh, the Ray family magazine.

Krrish 3 is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language superhero film written, produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan, who wrote the screenplay with Honey Irani and Robin Bhatt. It is the third film in the Krrish series, following Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) and Krrish (2006). The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi. The story follows Krishna Mehra, alias Krrish, and his scientist father, Rohit Mehra, who face an elaborate conspiracy orchestrated by the evil genetist Kaal and his gang of mutants, led by the ruthless Kaya.

Krishna Mehra, better known as Krrish, is an Indian superhero appearing in the film series of the same name. He made his first appearance in Krrish, the second film of the series. The character was created by Rakesh Roshan and is portrayed by Hrithik Roshan, who reprises the role in Krrish 3, the third film of the franchise.

Krrish is an Indian media franchise of superhero films, television series, comics and video games. The film series is directed, produced and written by Rakesh Roshan. Krrish is considered Indian cinema's first such film series. All three films star Rakesh's son Hrithik. The films are centred, initially, on a mentally disabled boy who has an encounter with an extraterrestrial being, and later, his son, who grows up to be a reluctant superhero Krrish.

Hrithik Roshan is an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi-language films. As a child, he made uncredited appearances in three films directed by his maternal grandfather, J. Om Prakash, the first of which was in Aasha (1980). In 1986, Roshan played the adopted son of Rajinikanth's character in Prakash's crime drama Bhagwaan Dada. Roshan subsequently worked as an assistant director on four films, including Khudgarz (1987) and Karan Arjun (1995), all of which were directed by his father, Rakesh.
