The Men's 50m Freestyle event at the 2003 Pan American Games took place on August 16, 2003 (Day 15 of the Games). Fernando Scherer BRA) won his third consecutive Pan Am 50 freestyle title with 22.40, with José Meolans (ARG) second in 22.42 and Gary Hall, Jr. (USA) third with 22.43.

The Swimming competition at the 14th Pan American Games was held August 12-18, 2003 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The competition was held in the outdoor (50m) pool of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. It featured 32 long course (50m) events.

Fernando Scherer swimmer

Fernando de Queiroz Scherer is a Brazilian international swimmer. He won the bronze medal in the 50-meter freestyle at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and another bronze medal four years later in Sydney with the Brazilian relay team in the 4×100-meter freestyle.

José Meolans swimmer

José Martin Meolans is a freestyle swimmer from Argentina, who won the world title in the 50 metre freestyle at the 2002 FINA Short Course World Championships in Moscow, Russia.

Caeleb Remel Dressel is an American freestyle, breaststroke, and butterfly swimmer who specializes in the sprint events. He won seven gold medals at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest. Dressel is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and currently holds American records in 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle and the 50-meter butterfly, as well as the world records in the 4×100 meter mixed freestyle and medley relays. He also holds American records in the short course 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events, the 100-yard butterfly, and the 200-yard individual medley, and formerly in the 100-yard breaststroke. Dressel attended Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, Florida, and he was a collegiate swimmer at the University of Florida, graduating in 2018.
