The Men's 100 metre butterfly competition at the 2019 World Championships was held on 26 and 27 July 2019. [1] [2] The defending champion Caeleb Dressel broke Michael Phelps' ten-year-old record by 0.32 second in the semi-final, setting a new world-record time of 49.50 seconds. [3] Dressel won the final held the following day, defending his title. [4]

There were approximately 60 competitors from approximately 45 nations, with the ultimate numbers determined through the ongoing selection process, including universality places.

The Men's 50 metre butterfly competition at the 2019 World Championships was held on 21 and 22 July 2019. The defending champion Ben Proud finished 7th in the final. The winner, Caeleb Dressel, set a competition record in the final, winning in 22.35 seconds.

The Men's 200 metre butterfly competition at the 2019 World Championships was held on 23 and 24 July 2019. The event was won by Kristóf Milák, who broke a 10-year-old record set by Michael Phelps, and set a new world-record time of 1:50.73 in the process.

The 4 × 100 metre mixed freestyle relay competition at the 2019 World Championships was held on 27 July 2019. The event was won by the United States team in a world record time of 3 minutes, 19.40 seconds.

Zach Apple American swimmer

Zachary "Zach" Douglas Apple is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in the sprint freestyle events. He currently swims for DC Trident in the International Swimming League. He won his first Olympic gold medal in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay at the 2020 Summer Olympics, swimming in the prelims and the final of the event, and later in the same Olympic Games won a gold medal and helped set a new world record and Olympic record in the 4x100-meter medley relay, swimming the freestyle leg of the relay in the final.

David Avery Curtiss is an American professional swimmer. At the 2019 World Junior Championships he won the silver medal in the 50-meter freestyle. In 2021 he set a new American high school record in the 50-yard freestyle for all high school swimming, public and private, in the United States. He has been a multiple-time member of the USA Swimming National Team in the 50-freestyle.
