TEDxLagos is an independent TEDx event held annually in Lagos, Nigeria. Like other TEDx events, the event obtained a free license from TED to hold the conference, with organizers agreeing to follow certain principles. [2] In 2018, the refreshed TEDxLagos hosted 12 speakers at the Muson Centre. [3]

History

TEDxLagos was founded as an independent TEDx event by the original organizers of TEDxGbagada. In 2018, TEDxLagos reviewed numerous candidates and hosted 12 speakers on August 18, 2018 at the Muson Centre, Lagos Island. [4] The hosts for the pre-recorded event were Nigerian comedian Bovi and Award-winning media entrepreneur Uche Eze founder of BellaNaija , who is also a TEDGlobal Fellow. TEDxLagos partnered with the Skoll Foundation and Union Bank of Nigeria for the 2018 event. [5] [6] [7] [8]

Cobhams Asuquo Nigerian musician

Cobhams Asuquo is a Nigerian singer/songwriter, music producer, musician, public speaker and businessman. In 2005, Asuquo was signed to Sony ATV London as a songwriter. After working as Head of Audio Productions at Questionmark Entertainment in Lagos Nigeria, he set up his own label and recording facility - Cobhams Asuquo Music Productions (CAMP), in 2006. The label represented himself, Bez Idakula and Stan Iyke.

The Headies

The Headies is a music awards show established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The annual ceremony features performances by established and promising artists. It is broadcast live on HipTV to viewers across Nigeria. The 1st and 2nd editions of The Headies were held at the Muson Center in Onikan, Lagos State. Between 2010 and 2012, the awards were held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. Several media personalities in Nigeria have hosted the annual ceremony, including Darey Art Alade, D'banj, Dakore Egbuson, Banky W., Rita Dominic, M.I, Tiwa Savage and Dr SID.

Toke Makinwa

Toke Makinwa is a Nigerian radio personality, television host, vlogger, lifestyle entrepreneur and author. She is known for hosting The Morning Drive on Rhythm 93.7 FM and for her YouTube vlog series Toke Moments. She released her book On Becoming in November 2016.

Gidi Culture Festival

The Gidi Culture Festival is an annual one-day music and arts festival that takes place in Lagos, Nigeria. Co-founded by Chinedu Okeke and Oriteme Banigo, it was created in response to a demand from the local youth culture for live, affordable, and accessible entertainment in Africa. The festival provides a venue for live bands, DJs, and musical acts to perform. It also features outdoor activities, local vendors, and artisans. The main show features a line-up of African acts from numerous countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Congo, Kenya, and the United Kingdom. The goal of the festival is to encourage the development of African talent and promote artists both within the continent and into overseas markets.

Adesua Etomi-Wellington, also known as Adesua Etomi, is a Nigerian actress. In 2014, she starred in her first feature film Knocking On Heaven's Door. She won the Best Actress in a Drama award at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her role in the 2015 romantic drama film Falling.

Sodamola Oluseye Desmond, professionally known as DJ Spinall, is a Nigerian Disc Jockey, Record Producer, songwriter, Label Executive, and Media personality. He first gained prominence in 2004, while working as a radio DJ at Raypower 100.5 FM. He later joined Industry Nite where he promoted underground talents at the weekly platform. He was the official DJ to Wande Coal while he was affiliated with Mavin Records. DJ Spinall created a style edge to his outfit known as TheCAP, tracing his roots back to his culture. TheCAP, which fans tags as "TheCrazyAzzParty" has since then been his brand power and identity.

Ycee

Oludemilade Martin Alejo, known professionally as Ycee, is a Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter. He gained popularity after his single "Condo", which features vocals by Patoranking, earned him two nominations at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He was also nominated for Best Artist in African Pop at the 2015 All Africa Music Awards and for Next Rated at The Headies 2016. Ycee signed a record deal with Sony Music in October 2016, but terminated his contract with the label in February 2018.

Didi Akinyelure is an award-winning British/Nigerian journalist. She is a graduate of chemical engineering from the University of Nottingham. In July 2016, she won the prestigious BBC World News Komla Dumor Award. In 2018, Didi received the University of Nottingham Special Excellence Alumni Laureate Award. Didi was the face of CNBC Africa's live morning show Open Exchange, West Africa.

Tope Oshin Nigerian television and film director, producer and casting director

Tope Oshin is a Nigerian television and film director, producer and casting director, listed as one of the most influential Nigerians in film in 2019. In 2015 Pulse magazine named her as one of "9 Nigerian female movie directors you should know" in the Nollywood film industry. and in March 2018, in commemoration of the Women's History Month, Tope was celebrated by OkayAfrica as one of the Okay100 Women. The interactive campaign celebrates extraordinary women from Africa and the diaspora making waves across a wide array of industries, while driving positive impact in their communities and the world at large.

Ade A. Olufeko Technologist, designer and entrepreneur of Ijebu ancestry

Ade Abayomi Olufeko, is a designer, technologist, author and entrepreneur primarily active in West Africa.

Simidele Adeife Omonla Adeagbo is a Canadian–Nigerian skeleton racer who competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She is Nigeria and Africa’s first female skeleton athlete. She is the first black female Olympian in the sport. Before competing in skeleton, Adeagbo competed in triple jump, last competing in 2008.

Yagazie Emezi is an artist and self-taught independent photojournalist based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Seun Ajayi is a Nigerian actor, voice over artist and master of ceremonies. He is a native of Ijebu Ibefun, Ogun State, Nigeria. He is known for his role in the television series Hustle. Ajayi was born on 31 March in Kaduna, the Northern part of Nigeria and is the last child among five children. His family moved to Lagos when he was nine years old. His father is a retired civil servant and his mother is a business woman. He had his primary and secondary education in Lagos and his tertiary education in the University of Lagos where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in theatre arts.

Titi Ogufere is a Nigerian interior designer, critical design thinker and publisher at Essential Media Group. She is the Creative Director at Essential Interiors Consultancy, a pioneer interior designing company in Nigeria. The award-winning practice was set up in 2002 and has since established an international identity with a wide variety of projects that are context-specific, innovative, experimental, critical and theoretical.

NaijaHacks is a hackathon and tech invention competition in Nigerian, which aims to encourage youth to use technology to create solutions for their communities and the world using technologies including blockchain and artificial intelligence. Officially, NaijaHacks is described as an official national "Movement of Makers, Leaders, and Disruptors"..

Daniel Etim Effiong, also Daniel Etim-Effiong is a Nigerian Nollywood actor and film director.
