Tania (Tanya) Roxanne Moss (born 12 February 1964 in Auckland) is a New Zealand former gymnast who competed in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. She performed in rhythmic gymnastics. [1] She is a multi-time New Zealand and Australasian Champion. In 1983 she was ranked #2 in the Commonwealth. She also won the New Zealand Gymnast of the year 6 times. On her retirement from competitive gymnastics she went on to coach one of the top clubs in the country and had many national champions and national representatives from her club, Xtreme Rhythmix. Tanya travelled extensively for New Zealand either as a coach or judge for various national teams.

Personal life

She is married to another New Zealand Olympian, a silver-medalist in the light-heavyweight boxing division, Kevin Barry. [2] They met at the 1984 Olympic Games. [3] They first resided in Auckland, where they moved soon after their wedding. They currently reside in Las Vegas, Nevada, after leaving New Zealand in June 2004.

Moss had three children with Barry, Jordyn (Daughter) and Mitchell & Taylor (twin sons). Mitchell and Taylor both played American Football for their high school and Nevada Spartans, but Taylor turned his attention to full time training alongside Kevin. Moss now resides with the boxers that Kevin and Taylor train, including WBO World Heavyweight Champion Joseph Parker, IBO World Light Heavyweight Champion Umar Salamov and Polish heavyweight boxer Izu Ugonoh. Moss does not care for the sport of boxing herself. [4] [5]

David Light is a Professional Boxer from New Zealand. He competed in the men's heavyweight division at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where he won the silver medal against Canada's Samir El-Mais. Light is the current WBO Oriental cruiserweight champion after defeating Mark Flanagan by unanimous decision on 18 March 2019.

Uaine Fa Junior is a New Zealand professional boxer. He has held the WBO Oriental interim heavyweight title since 2018. As an amateur he represented Tonga at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, winning a bronze medal in the super-heavyweight division; he also represented Tonga at the Oceania Championships, winning gold and multiple silver medals. His knockout-to-win percentage stands at 53%.

Courtney Louise McGregor is a retired artistic gymnast who represented New Zealand. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics and retired in 2020.

New Zealand Professional Boxing Association (NZPBA) is one of the four governing bodies for the sport of professional boxing in New Zealand. NZPBA is a non-profit organisation.

Asasio Lolofakangalo Heimuli, commonly known as Lolo Heimuli, is a professional coach in kickboxing, boxing and mixed martial arts active in New Zealand. In the past he has coached many notable people including Mark Hunt (MMA), Shane Cameron (Boxing), Ray Sefo and many more. Heimuli fought in Mauy Thai and Amateur Boxing before becoming a coach, however, retired as a competitor in 1990 after a KO win over Narungsak of Thailand. Heimuli trained under Manukau Boxing gym with Jerry Preston and Ponsonby Lee Institute under Alf Pivac before becoming a coach. As a kickboxing coach, his boxers have won over 80 regional and world kickboxing titles. Heimuli used to be the head coach of City Boxing gym. Heimuli owns his own gym called Balmoral Lee Gar, based in Sandringham Auckland.

Taylor Barry is a New Zealand boxing trainer based in Las Vegas. Barry is the son of Olympic silver medalist and New Zealand boxing legend; trainer and manager Kevin Barry. Taylor has moved into the realm of coaching professional fighters including WBO world champion Joseph Parker. Barry helped Joseph Parker in his World Title fight in December 2016.

Jean Charlotte Spencer is a New Zealand Olympic gymnast. Born in the United Kingdom, she now lives in Australia.

Geovana De Cassia Peres is a Brazilian born New Zealand amateur muay thai fighter and former professional boxer who competed from 2017 to 2019. She became the first female light-heavyweight world champion, having held the WBO female title from 2019 until her retirement in January 2021.

Patrick Pakuliki Mailata is a Samoan born, New Zealand raised professional boxer. As an amateur, he won three New Zealand national elite championships from 2012 to 2014 and a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Geovana Peres vs Lani Daniels II Boxing competition

Geovana Peres vs Lani Daniels II, billed as History In The Making was a boxing rematch between Geovana Peres and Lani Daniels. It took place on 30 March 2019 at SkyCity Convention Centre in Auckland, New Zealand. Peres won the contest by Unanimous decision with two judges scoring the card 98 - 92 and one judge 96 - 94. The fight was considered to be one of the most anticipated sporting events in New Zealand as two New Zealand Boxers fighting for on major World Boxing Title. Geovana Peres is known as the first ever person from the LGBT community to win a New Zealand Professional Boxing title, holding the New Zealand National Boxing Federation and Professional Boxing Commission New Zealand Light Heavyweight Titles. Even though she is Brazilian born, Geovana is a New Zealand citizen and proudly represents New Zealand. Lani Daniels holds the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association Light Heavyweight title and Pro Box NZ Super Middleweight title. She represents her Iwi the Ngāti Hine. She is the second New Zealand Born female to be fighting for a major World title. The first being Daniella Smith, who is from the same hometown as Lani Daniels.

Geovana Peres vs. Claire Hafner

Geovana Peres vs Claire Hafner was a world title fight that took place on 4 October 2019 at SkyCity Convention Centre in Auckland, New Zealand. Peres won the fight by referee stoppage between the 8th and 9th round. This was considered a history making moment as Geovana Peres was the first New Zealand female boxer to win and successfully defend a world title in her home country. Geovana Peres was also the first LGBT person representing New Zealand to hold a world boxing title. Claire Hafner was born in the USA but considers herself a Canadian. She came into the fight ranked first on Boxrec, above Geovana who was ranked second. The winner of the fight would also be recognized as the official Lineal World Heavyweight champion.

Claire Hafner is a Canadian professional boxer and Opera singer. She challenged once for the WBO light heavyweight title in October 2019. As of October 2019, she is ranked as the world's fourth best active female heavyweight by BoxRec.

Joseph Parker vs. Junior Fa was a heavyweight professional boxing match contested between former WBO champion Joseph Parker and WBO interim Oriental champion Junior Fa. The bout took place on 27 February 2021, at the Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. The event is co-promoted by David Higgins of Duco Events, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing and Lou DiBella of DiBella Entertainment, and is considered a history making moment and New Zealand's next "Fight of the Century".
