Thalangara is a part of Kasaragod Town, the district headquarters of the Kasaragod district in the South Indian state of Kerala. Malik Denar Jama Masjid and Dargah is located here. Its economy is dependent on remittance from expatriate workers in the Persian Gulf, particularly Dubai. Thalangara consists of areas like Padinhar(Westyork), Kunnil, Kadavath ("ferry stand"), Khazilane, Nuppadamail, Bangod, Theruvath, and Korkode ("street" in Malayalam). The areas of Thalangara consist of smaller mohallas (localities) and each locality has its own mosque and madrassa.
Thalangara also houses the oldest and the biggest hospital in Kasargod district, the Malik Dinar Charitable Hospital, established in 1970 by Janab KS Abdullah. [1] This institution is an educational centre of Kasaragod, with a School of Nursing, College of Nursing, B. Pharm and D. Pharm colleges.
Malik Deenar , Arabic مالك دينار is said by Malabar Muslims to be the first generation follower of the Islamic prophet Muhammed who came to India to propagate Islam in the Indian Subcontinent. His grave is located at Thalangara which is consecrated inside a structure that was formerly a Tharavad of a local Tulu Chief.
Malik Deenar Mosque , formally Malik Deenar Grand Juma Masjid, is a mosque located about a kilometre from Kasaragod, Kerala, India, on the coast. The mosque is dedicated to Malik Deenar, who arrived from Arabia with his family on a mission to spread Islam on the coast of Kerala. It was originally built around 642. Arakkal Kingdom was a Muslim kingdom in Kannur town in Kannur district, in the state of Kerala, South India. The king was called Ali Raja and the ruling queen was called Arakkal Beevi. Arakkal kingdom included little more than the Cannanore town and the southern Laccadive Islands, originally leased from the Kolattiri. The royal family is said to be originally a branch of the Kolattiri, descended from a princess of that family who converted to Islam. They owed allegiance to the Kolattiri rulers, whose ministers they had been at one time. The rulers followed the Marumakkathayam system of matrilineal inheritance, a system that is unique to a section of Hindus of Kerala. Under Marumakkathayam, the succession passes to the male offspring of its female members, in other words from a man to his sister's son and so forth. As the only Muslim rulers in Malabar, they saw the rise of Hyder Ali, de facto ruler of the Mysore Sultanate as the opportunity to increase their own power at the expense of Chirakkal, and invited him to invade Kerala.
Malik Dinar was a Muslim scholar and traveller. He was one of the first known Muslims to have come to India in order to propagate Islam in the Indian Subcontinent after the departure of King Cheraman Perumal. Even though historians do not agree on the exact place of his death, it is widely accepted that he died at Kasaragod and that his relics were buried at the Malik Dinar Mosque in Thalangara, Kasaragod. Belonging to the generation of the tabi'i, Malik is called a reliable traditionalist in Sunni sources. He was the son of a slave from Kabul who became a disciple of Hasan al-Basri. He died just before the epidemic of plague which caused considerable ravages in Basra in 748-49 CE, with various traditions placing his death either at 744-45 or 747-48 CE.

Chaliyam is a village situated at the estuary of Chaliyar in Kozhikode district of Kerala, India.
